The Geneva Mutual Accountability Framework (GMAF) has been the latest in a series of mutual accountability frameworks between the Government of Afghanistan and the international community, intended to guide development cooperation and reform efforts in Afghanistan. ACBAR has 152 National and International NGO members: 127 members reported at the beginning of 2020, that they are working in 11 sectors in 34 provinces and 378 districts. In total 39,367 staff (27,714 men and 11,653 women) are employed.

A recent study on the Citizens’ Charter Afghanistan Project (CCAP) has reviewed its implementation during the first phase (2016-2020) across three provinces and finds that while challenges remain, the program is by and large on the right track.

Coronavirus, or COVID-19, has become the world's biggest threat. This new virus has no cure yet and prevention is the only thing that can be done. Infections of such kind of disease in a country like Afghanistan that does not have proper health system can be very dangerous and critical.

ACBAR’s 152 NGO members welcome the agreement, signed on Saturday 29 February 2020 by the United States of America and the Taliban. We hope that it will mark the beginning of a better future for Afghanistan. We call on all parties in Afghanistan that have been part of the armed conflict to now focus on a peaceful settlement that provides justice, dignity and inclusion for all Afghans.
