The objective of the Strong Hubs for Afghan Hope and Resilience (SHAHAR) Program is to create well-governed, fiscally sustainable Afghan municipalities capable of meeting the needs of a growing urban population. Targeted support to 20 provincial municipalities across Afghanistan, as well as the General Directorate of Municipal Affairs (GDMA) and Municipal Advisory Boards (MABs), will lead to improved municipal financial management, urban service delivery, and citizen consultation.
This internship Program represents an exciting opportunity for interns to gain experience with official environment, learn organizational behavior, have basic practical learnings in their educational related filed and gain experience working on an international development project.
The Intern will provide support to the DAI SHAHAR Project Staff, by performing a variety of tasks. Throughout the internship, the Intern will gain exposure to DAI and USAID methods for capacity building, project management, and economic development programs.
Duties and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the municipal department staff in developing the municipal property and asset management strategy, procedures and work plan.
Provide support to municipal relevant staffs on developing and maintaining comprehensive database for commercial, industrial and residential properties including information on the depreciation, location and pricing of properties and assets.
Assist the department staffs to monitor the implementation of annual maintenance plan and budget for the municipal properties.
Assist municipal department staffs to negotiate revenue collection and enhancement strategies and contracts related to the municipality property.
Assist municipal staff to have customer focus and the ability to build strong relations with other agencies to address the municipality properties issues.
Assist municipal staffs to develop asset management system.
Recently completed or currently enrolled in a university graduate or undergraduate program in public or business administration, or other relevant academic discipline.
Oral and written fluency in Dari and English.
· The position reports to Municipal Property and Asset Manager and SHAHAR Team Lead on weekly basis.
