Organization for Research and Community Development (ORCD) is a nongovernmental, non-political, non-for-profit and independent organization founded in 2010 by a group of community development and research specialists. The aim of the organization is to contribute to the development of Afghanistan as an integral part of the international community. It envisages accomplishing its aims by building local capacities, generating evidence in various disciplines, promoting evidence-based best practices, and implementing developmental projects aimed at community development at the grass root level.
ORCD services include planning of humanitarian and development projects, designing feasibility studies, and management of community-based interventions for the development of target communities through best practices. ORCD considers a multi-sectoral approach to community development and hence ensures its services to be offered through an extended range of sectors spanning health, education, agriculture. It also tries to ensure that women empowerment, as a key cross-cutting issue, is at the center of community development.
ORCD brings expertise in managing large-scale projects and sourcing and managing high quality development experts covering a variety of disciplinary skills required for the implementation of projects. Establishing meaningful partnerships, ensuring diversity and community empowerment with a special focus on women are the core working principles of ORCD. ORCD believes these characteristics would enable the organization to successfully deliver and manage a wide range of projects yielding optimum impact cost-effectively and cost efficiently.
Social workers provide appropriate advice, support and resources to individuals who are experiencing personal difficulties to help them overcome their problems, social workers work with specific groups of clients including women, children, the elderly and people with mental health problems and generally social workers specialize in either adult or child social care. The nature of the work varies according to setting
- Perform daily activity as per the work and action plan
- Assessing, counselling and offering advice to the relevant clients
- Arranging appropriate care, resources or other benefits
- Effectively liaising with relatives, colleagues and other professionals
- Report writing
- Attending or contributing towards court cases
- Any other responsibilities assigning by line supervisor
Only graduates can become social workers. To become a social worker, they will need a qualification that is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Graduates who have an undergraduate degree in any subject other than social work are eligible for work-based postgraduate programmers, at least two years’ experience in the related field is required
