Job Description:

Job Summary

The Education Officer, reporting to the ECW Project Coordinator, is entrusted with the responsibility of executing education activities, including but not limited to CBE, ALP, community mobilization, and fostering teaching and administration skills development for school teachers. The role extends to directing beneficiaries/students to receive need-based or emergency education.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the ECW Project Coordinator, overseeing all aspects of project implementation, including school assessment, training, and awareness for children's caregivers.
  • Assist in planning and execution of project activities under the expert guidance of the ECW Project Coordinator.
  • Conduct comprehensive training needs assessments for project staff and teachers, working collaboratively with Education Trainers.
  • Develop and organize on-the-job refresher training to bridge gaps and enhance the capacity of individuals and departments targeted by the project.
  • Design and execute training programs for teachers in strict adherence to the approved project proposal.
  • Regularly assess the impact of all conducted training sessions, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate the meticulous monitoring of project activities based on the approved schedule.
  • Generate initial reports of activities and communicate them promptly.
  • Maintain a meticulous record of project activities, ensuring thorough data collection and organized filing.
  • Assist in the recruitment of project staff and field personnel, strictly adhering to relevant policies.
  • Actively engage the community in project activities, establish Community Advisory Boards, and facilitate community understanding of the overall project.
  • Effectively coordinate with relevant government departments, including the provincial education department, district education departments, and the department of the economy.
  • Conduct regular field visits to project-targeted areas for firsthand insights.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly result-based progress reports for the Education Ministry and clusters.
  • Develop and coordinate daily plans and activities contributing to the project's objectives.
  • Implement innovative approaches to address challenges and enhance the efficacy of educational programs.
  • Ensure the alignment of education programs with YVO's overarching mission and goals.
  • Conduct regular and as-needed field visits from the project site.
  • Provide timely reporting of overall activities at the field level to the ECW Project Coordinator.
  • Oversee and supervise activities at the field level, sharing findings with the Project Coordinator and relevant staff for continual improvement.
  • Assist Education Trainers in designing training and supervise training sessions.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Education, Social Studies, or a related field. Master’s degree will be an advantage.
  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in a relevant role and a total of 2 years of general experience in the community.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in the local languages (Pashto/Dari).
  • Proficient in both spoken and written English.
  • In-depth knowledge of the CBEs and Child education system in Afghanistan.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with both Government and non-government organizations.
  • Proficiency in generating comprehensive reports with qualitative and quantitative information.
  • Ability to organize and conduct seminars and workshops for teacher and staff development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
