Job Description:
The ICT Assistant is a part-time role responsible for providing essential ICT support. The position involves supporting the daily operation and maintenance of the MATC’s ICT systems and equipment. This includes providing basic technical support to staff, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the smooth running of all ICT tools. In addition, the position supports the maintenance of the Mine Action Hotline database, as required. This position is based at the MATC office in Kabul, Afghanistan, and reports directly to the MIS Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities of the ICT Assistant includes, but are not limited to:
● Provide first-line technical support for all hardware, software, and network-related issues.
● Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all ICT equipment, including computers and printers.
● Monitor network systems and internet connectivity to ensure minimal downtime, promptly reporting issues to service providers.
● Ensure the security of all systems through antivirus management, software updates, and data backup measures.
● Maintain and manage all ICT assets, ensuring their proper and secure use within the office.
Hotline Operations:
● Database Management: Manage and maintain the Mine Action Hotline database (e.g. ensure it has an optimal structure, data is securely stored with appropriate user access, back-up and recovery mechanisms are in place)
Job Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required and University Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Information Technology is desirable and may substitute for some of the required number of years of experience.
- Experience: A minimum of four years’ experience in the field of Information Technology and managing databases, or a related field is required. Experience within the mine action sector is an advantage.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in Dari and Pashto and strong English language skills (both written and spoken) are required. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking is required.
- Proficiency and experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Office 2010 and/or newer versions).
- Ability to troubleshoot common ICT issues.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to work under pressure and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong client relationship management skills to maintain effective communication with stakeholders and ensure high levels of service satisfaction.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze issues, propose solutions, and make sound decisions in a timely manner.
