To build the capacity of fresh graduates and prepare them for future professional roles, Street Child is offering volunteer opportunities within the HR and Finance Departments at our Kabul office.
Job Description:
Part 1: Role Purpose
The HR and Finance Volunteers will support the respective departments in day-to-day administrative, documentation, and operational tasks. They will gain practical work experience, develop professional skills, and become familiar with NGO operational procedures.
This is an unpaid, learning-based opportunity designed to support recent graduates interested in building careers in Human Resources or Finance.
Part 2: Key Responsibilities
A. HR Volunteer
- Assist in maintaining and organizing staff personal files and records.
- Support in recruitment processes, including posting vacancies and arranging interviews.
- Help prepare attendance sheets, leave tracking, and related HR documentation.
- Support HR events, trainings, and workshops.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information and follow HR policies.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the HR Manager.
B. Finance Volunteer
- Support in recording and filing daily financial transactions.
- Assist in reviewing supporting documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Help with data entry into financial tracking systems.
- Support with photocopying, scanning, and maintaining payment documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with financial procedures.
- Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the Finance Manager.
Part 3: Learning and Professional Development
During this 6-month volunteer period, participants will:
- Gain hands-on experience in HR and Finance operations.
- Learn about NGO procedures, compliance, and documentation systems.
- Receive on-the-job mentoring from professional staff.
- Receive a completion certificate upon successful performance and attendance.
Job Requirements:
Education
Bachelor’s degree (completed) in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related field.
Experience
No prior experience required; previous internship or volunteer experience is an advantage.
Skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Reliable, responsible, and team-oriented.
Languages
Fluency in Dari and Pashto; basic English is an advantage.
Terms of Engagement
- This is a volunteer, unpaid position.
- Volunteers will work full-time for 6 months at the Kabul Office.
- Lunch and mobile top-up may be provided as applicable.
- Volunteers are expected to maintain professional conduct and adhere to Street Child policies.
