About Future Generations Afghanistan:

Future Generations (FG) is the collective name for an international network of non-governmental organizations including FG Country Programs in Asia and Africa, Future Generations University (FGU) and its alumni in 17 countries, academia, and individual’s experts. The original charitable organization, Future Generations, was established in 1992 for the purpose of learning from, and building upon the world’s most successful examples of community empowerment and social change. Job Description:

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, supervising, and maintaining solar power systems, ensures that systems are installed properly and operate efficiently through regular monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.

Job Requirements:

  • Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and energy demand analysis for solar system installations.
  • Carry out GPS data collection, solar irradiation assessment, and technical surveys at proposed project sites.
  • Prepare technical designs, load calculations, single-line diagrams, and sizing of solar panels, inverters, lithium batteries, charge controllers, and related components.
  • Develop detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs), technical specifications, cost estimates, and material requirements for solar installations.
  • Supervise civil and electrical works related to solar system installation, including foundation preparation, mounting structure fabrication, panel fixing, wiring, earthing, and lightning protection systems.
  • Ensure proper installation, testing, and commissioning of solar PV systems in accordance with international standards and safety procedures.
  • Monitor system performance and conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of faults in solar equipment and electrical connections.
  • Coordinate with relevant government authorities, line departments, contractors, suppliers, and local communities during project implementation.
  • Verify the quality and technical compliance of supplied materials and installed equipment.
  • Prepare technical reports, installation progress reports, inspection reports, and completion certificates.
  • Provide technical guidance and on-site support to technicians and installation teams during implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards throughout installation and maintenance activities.
  • Support training and capacity building of local operators and beneficiaries on operation and maintenance of solar systems.
  • Conduct final system testing, performance evaluation, and handover of completed solar installations to beneficiaries or relevant authorities.

Qulification:

  • Proven experience in solar system design, installation, supervision, testing, and commissioning.
  • Experience in preparation of BOQs, technical specifications, feasibility studies, and progress reports.
  • Good knowledge of electrical systems, renewable energy technologies, and safety standards.
  • Strong communication, coordination, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with multicultural teams and stakeholders.
  • Good command of written and spoken English, including strong reporting and documentation skills.
  • Fluency Local Languages (Pashto and Dari) and English languages.
