Agriculture Trainer is responsible to provide technical support inputs and agriculture extension services to farmers and farmers groups and cooperative for the production for handling of high value agriculture and agronomy commodities.
Responsibilities of the Job:
· Conduct coordination meetings with sectoral departments, local authorities and communities.
· Conduct sustainable land management study and develop action plan on agro-based interventions and activities accordingly.
· Provide technical support inputs and agriculture extension services to farmers for the production handling of high value agricultural and commodities.
· Train farmers in new agriculture technology and agronomy techniques and methods to enhance productivity in the area.
· Introduce improved and appropriate irrigated crop production technologies. These may include the following:
v Watercourse improvement
v Land leveling
v Furrow irrigation
v Use of better quality seed/planning materials.
v Land preparations
v improved field irrigation techniques
v Appropriate use of chemical and organic (manure) fertilizers.
v Integrated pest management
v Water saving techniques/technologies and develop irrigation scheduling
v Calculate crop water requirement and irrigation requirement within.
v Introduce improved water distribution and allocation methods.
· Support farmers through field visits and training.
· Training of the beneficiaries on wheat, summer crops, vegetables and green houses.
· Lead the development of agricultural technical standards training manuals and other implementation tools for the development of agriculture.
· Incorporate marketing linkage strategies to help farmers to connect with local and urban markets as well with field unit veterinary services, promoting their products effectively.
· Familiar with using Kobo tools during the beneficiary selection process.
· Conduct verification and beneficiary selection process in the field.
· Production methodologies and community based natural resources management.
· Design and develops training manuals, presentations and materials required for the trainings.
· Ensure close communication and coordination with project team district authorities and community elders through regular visits participation in meeting organize joint field visits and submission of reports.
· Provide recommendations to the farmers on improving soil fertility irrigated agronomic measures such as raised-bed furrow irrigation, fertilizer application rates and methods and water saving for increasing crop production.
· Ability to travel to various districts of Kandahar province.
· Any other duties assigned and project manager.
