Job Summary

Job Summary

The Health and Nutrition Nurses will provide integrated primary healthcare and nutrition services, including screening, treatment, and counseling, with a focus on maternal and child health and prevention of malnutrition. They will also support the medical doctors and midwives with related health and nutrition activities and services.

TOR

The Nurse will carry out the following tasks, including but not limited to:

Conduct general health assessments and basic triage of patients.

Administer first aid and basic medical treatment as per protocols.

Support the team in screening for malnutrition, particularly among children and pregnant and lactating women (PLW).

Assist in the management of mild cases of malnutrition and referrals.

Support the administration of vaccines under the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI).

Monitor for and report adverse reactions to vaccines.

Assist midwives and medical doctors in the delivery of maternal health services.

Educate mothers and caregivers on breastfeeding techniques, newborn care, and personal hygiene practices.

Provide health counseling to mothers and caregivers as needed.

Manage mild to moderate health conditions, ensuring timely care and follow-up.

Monitor and support care for patients with chronic illnesses.

Assist in the management of acute malnutrition cases under the guidance of nutrition specialists.

Enforce and adhere to infection prevention and control (IPC) measures at all times.

Assist in screening for infectious diseases and report suspected cases.

Participate in community health education activities.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and reports.

Provide emergency care in cases of acute illness or injury.

Participate in public health emergency response when needed.

Assist the teams with documenting the registration and treatment of patients.

Any other tasks as related to the position or assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Diploma degree in nursing, public health, nutrition, or related field.

At least 2 years of work experience, preferably in humanitarian and emergency settings.

Ability to provide basic clinical care for common illnesses, conduct nutrition screening, and support management of SAM and MAM.

Knowledge of IYCF, MNCH, immunization, IPC, national treatment protocols, and health guidelines.

 

Preference will be given to candidates who have previous working experience with Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams (MHNT), as this experience is considered highly relevant and important for the position.
