Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assess participants’ starting skill levels and prepare an inclusive training plan, timetable and practical lesson sequence based on the approved curriculum.
• Teach accurate measurement, pattern preparation, cutting, hand stitching, machine sewing, finishing, alteration and production of locally marketable garments and items.
• Demonstrate safe operation, cleaning and routine maintenance of sewing machines, irons, scissors and other tools and enforce workshop safety rules.
• Provide supervised practice, individual coaching and constructive feedback and adapt instruction for different literacy levels and learning needs.
• Integrate basic employability and business skills, including quality control, costing, pricing, customer service, record keeping and market awareness.
• Maintain attendance, lesson, competency and assessment records and report participant progress and support needs.
• Manage training fabrics, tools and consumables responsibly; maintain issue and usage records and promptly report loss, damage or replenishment needs.
• Support transparent practical assessments and completion decisions based on demonstrated competencies rather than attendance alone.
• Help organize exhibitions, market linkages or graduation activities and orient eligible graduates on the safe and accountable use of approved toolkits.
• Perform duties in accordance with OCHR policies, the approved workplan, and applicable donor standards and guidance.
• Promote safe, dignified and inclusive access to services, applying do-no-harm, confidentiality, informed consent and survivor-centred principles.
• Comply with OCHR safeguarding, child safeguarding, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, code of conduct, anti-fraud and conflict-of-interest requirements.
• Explain available feedback and complaint channels to participants and promptly report safeguarding concerns through approved confidential pathways.
• Maintain accurate, sex- and age-disaggregated activity records and submit timely daily, weekly and monthly information to the supervisor using approved formats.
• Coordinate respectfully with project colleagues, community representatives, relevant authorities and service providers while protecting personal data.
• Participate in orientation, supervision, team meetings, capacity-building activities and performance reviews, and carry out other project-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
