Job Summary

Position Objective

To plan, organize, coordinate, implement, monitor, and evaluate capacity-building and professional development programs for faculty members, with the aim of continuously enhancing their academic knowledge, professional, teaching, research, managerial, and digital competencies, and improving the overall quality of teaching and academic services at the University.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement the annual capacity-building and professional development plan for faculty members based on needs assessments, performance evaluation results, and identified academic and professional development needs.
  2. Conduct and coordinate regular capacity-building needs assessments to identify the educational, professional, research, technological, and managerial development needs of faculty members.
  3. Analyze faculty performance evaluation results and utilize the findings in designing, prioritizing, and improving capacity-building programs.
  4. Design and implement training programs, short courses, seminars, workshops, conferences, and other professional development activities for faculty members in accordance with the approved plan.
  5. Plan and implement capacity-building programs on e-learning, educational technologies, and modern teaching methodologies for faculty members.
  6. Support the design and implementation of capacity-building programs for University leadership, Deans and academic administrators, based on performance evaluation results and identified development needs.
  7. Identify and recommend appropriate local and international trainers, facilitators, subject-matter experts, institutions, and organizations for the delivery of training and professional development programs.
  8. Coordinate with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, faculties, departments, Human Resources, and other relevant units in identifying needs, developing plans, and implementing capacity-building programs.
  9. Establish and maintain a database of faculty members and their professional development records, including completed training programs, certificates, training hours, and other relevant professional development activities.
  10. Collect, organize, and maintain all relevant documentation and evidence of capacity-building programs, including plans, training calendars, participant lists, training materials, certificates, evaluation results, photographs, and activity reports.
  11. Maintain and regularly update statistics and information regarding faculty participation in capacity-building programs and report the percentage of faculty members covered by such programs.
  12. Monitor the implementation of individual and institutional professional development plans for faculty members and follow up on the completion of planned development activities.
  13. Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of capacity-building programs and obtain feedback from participants to ensure continuous improvement of such programs.
  14. Prepare periodic and annual reports on capacity-building activities, achievements, participation rates, evaluation results, and the extent to which program objectives have been achieved.
  15. Assist in preparing budget proposals for capacity-building programs based on identified needs and activities included in the annual plan, and follow up on the effective and transparent utilization of allocated funds.
  16. Support the establishment, development, equipping, and effective operation of the University Professional Development Center and ensure the effective use of its facilities and resources for capacity-building activities.
  17. Develop and implement initiatives that encourage and motivate faculty members to participate regularly in professional development activities.
  18. Identify and disseminate information about training opportunities, scholarships, professional courses, conferences, and other professional development opportunities available within and outside the University.
  19. Establish and maintain professional relationships with professional development centers, universities, academic institutions, and other relevant organizations to facilitate knowledge sharing, collaboration, and access to professional development opportunities.
  20. Coordinate seminars and workshops for academic staff in collaboration with institutions with which Kardan University has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).
  21. Ensure that capacity-building programs are aligned with the University's strategic objectives, the needs of faculties and departments, and quality assurance standards.
  22. Coordinate with the Quality Assurance Unit in providing documentation and evidence related to capacity building and professional development activities for internal and external evaluations and accreditation processes.
  23. Develop and coordinate faculty members’ visiting hours for students in collaboration with the Deans, Academic Administrators, and Program Officers.
  24. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in faculty development, training and development, academic administration, professional development, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in a higher education or academic institution is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating training and professional development programs.
  • Experience in training needs assessments, performance analysis, professional development planning, and program evaluation.
  • Experience in coordinating workshops, seminars, conferences, short courses, and other capacity-building activities.
  • Experience maintaining training records, databases, documentation, and reports.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of faculty development, capacity building, and professional development practices.
  • Good understanding of modern teaching methodologies, e-learning, educational technologies, and digital learning tools.
  • Strong planning, coordination, organizational, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to analyze performance and training needs data and translate findings into appropriate development programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prepare plans, training calendars, budgets, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and accreditation requirements in higher education.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with universities, training providers, subject-matter experts, and partner institutions.

Language and Other Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Pashto, Dari and English.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty members, Deans, Academic Administrators, University leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to continuous professional development and academic excellence.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, initiative, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
