Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.

The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

AKHS, A is currently implementing healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Kabul and Takhar provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary healthcare, preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. As BPHS and EPHS implementer, AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwives.

AKHS, A draws on internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary support to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A has introduced innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is also implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission initiatives.

Job Summary

·       Preparing monthly and quarterly action plans and progressive reports according to the FHH project work plans and ensure the timely implementation of activities in the regions

·       To manage the smoot implementation of the FHH project at region level through routine communications, online meetings and field visits

·       To regularly review the FHH project proposals/concepts and budgets and coordination of its relevant activities with the NPO senior management team and regions

·       Assist the FHH Project Officers at region levels for the well planning, regular reporting and implementing of the projects

·       Responsible for the overall planning, implementing, and supervision of all FHHs project work plans and activities at region levels

·       To regularly and systematically review the FHH project budgets and expenditures with Finance department and follow up of the project budget lines

·       To conduct regular monitoring and supportive supervisions visits to ensure the progress of FHH project activities in the regions

·       Develop and submit project progress, technical and financial (monthly, quarterly and annually) and other reports as per project requirement

·       Develop monthly, quarterly and annual project activity plan, allocate required fund for activities as per endorsed budget, and keep track of expenses against the allocated budget.

·       To work closely with the Senior Coordinator, Health Program and Complementary Projects and focal points at region levels to discuss FHH project progress and problems on a weekly base

·       To ensure collecting of projects technical reports including HMIS reports, systematic feedback, guide and technical assistance to the relevant staff at NPO and region levels

·       To facilitate conducting of coordination meetings as well as Program Review Workshops for ensuring accountability and smooth implementation of the FHH projects in the regions

·       Evaluate and supervise the performance of the FHH Project Officers in Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces through coordinating with the region program lead

·       Perform any other task as assigned by Senior Management Team of Health Program

Job Requirements

       Minimum MD degree, Master of Public Health is an advantage

       Ability to generate periodic reports, cope with stressful situations and able to effectively manage the conflicts

       Have good analytical skills and good knowledge and skills of data collection, and analysis

       Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language and fluent in a local language. Demonstrated attention to detail, professionalism, confidentiality, and accountability.

       Strong problem-solving, coordination, and teamwork skills.

       Demonstrate computer skills (Ms. Office Package).

 

       Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project management, donor reporting, grants management, communications, stakeholder engagement, or executive support functions. And good knowledge in RMNCH.

       Demonstrated experience independently coordinating multi-department reporting processes and preparing donor-compliant reports.

       Experience working in NGO, INGO, or health-sector environments is preferred.

       Proven experience managing stakeholder communications and supporting senior management or executive-level coordination activities.

       Experience maintaining reporting systems, documentation repositories, and institutional communication records.
