Job Summary

  1. Scope of Work:

The project manager will be responsible for the overall management and implementation of the AHF project, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of The key responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project plan, including detailed timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate and oversee the project team, including field staff, logistics, and monitoring personnel.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with relevant stakeholders, including local authorities, community leaders, and other humanitarian organizations.
  • Monitor and evaluate project progress, identify and address any issues or challenges, and propose corrective actions as necessary.
  • Prepare regular progress reports, financial reports, and other project-related documentation as required.

2.2. Cash-based Interventions:

  • Assess the feasibility and appropriateness of cash-based interventions in the project context.
  • Develop and implement cash distribution mechanisms, including the selection and management of financial service providers.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of cash assistance to the target beneficiaries.
  • Monitor the utilization of cash assistance and its impact on the targeted households.

2.3. Contextual Awareness and Coordination:

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the current context in Kunar and Nuristan provinces, including the security situation, local dynamics, and humanitarian needs.
  • Collaborate with other humanitarian organizations, government agencies, and local authorities to ensure the effective coordination of relief efforts.
  • Identify and mitigate any potential risks or challenges that may affect the project's implementation.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

  • Proven experience in working for AHF funded projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing emergency relief projects, with a focus on food assistance and cash-based interventions.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing projects funded by the UN Agencies
  • Strong understanding of the humanitarian principles, standards, and best practices in emergency response.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to develop and implement comprehensive project plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing logistics, supply chain, and distribution processes in challenging environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in the local languages (Pashto and/or Dari) is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel and work in the Kunar and Nuristan provinces of Afghanistan.
