Community World Service Asia (CWSA) is a humanitarian, development and advocacy organisation working across Asia, the Pacific and Africa, with programmes in multiple provinces of Afghanistan. In response to growing rockfall risks in mountainous communities, CWSA carried out rockfall scaling and mitigation activities across 10 districts and 20 communities in Kabul, Laghman, Nangarhar and Kunar. More than 10,000 m³ of unstable rocks and stones were removed to reduce risks and improve safety for approximately 2,430 families, or an estimated 14,580 people. The activities also created Cash-for-Work opportunities for around 2,500 skilled and 2,000 unskilled workers, providing temporary income while supporting communities to address hazards affecting their homes and surroundings.
