About the Company

War Child Canada is a registered Canadian charity based in Toronto that works to accelerate peace and disrupt the cycle of violence by investing in and empowering local communities to build brighter futures through comprehensive, evidence-informed programs that foster resilience, self-reliance, and self-determination.
War Child Canada is globally recognized for our grassroots, community-driven model of humanitarian action that’s rooted in collaboration and entirely locally led. We have developed a solid track record of long-term, sustainable impact supporting children and families living in areas dominated by conflict.
War Child Canada works with some of the most vulnerable populations around the world and is a leader in developing and implementing programs specifically targeting and protecting children, women, and displaced people living in the most complex humanitarian environments in Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Sudan, and Yemen.
Context
War Child Canada has worked in Afghanistan for more than two decades, partnering with communities to deliver humanitarian and recovery programming across multiple provinces. Through close collaboration with local organizations, UN agencies, and relevant authorities, War Child Canada supports children, youth, families, refugees, returnees, internally displaced people, and other vulnerable populations with integrated programming in economic development, education, health, psychosocial support, and protection including child protection. Drawing on long-standing community relationships and local partnerships, the organization works to strengthen resilience, improve access to essential services, and support sustainable, locally driven development. War Child Canada's approach emphasizes community participation, local capacity, and practical solutions that respond to evolving needs while building on existing systems and resources.
In 2026, War Child Canada expects to reach more than 190,000 people through integrated programming that supports the well-being and resilience of children, youth, women, men, and their families across Afghanistan.
