The Medic who will work under the overall supervision of Operation Officer and under the direct supervision of Team leader is responsible for the following assigned tasks:
1. To maintain adequate medical supplies and ensure the correct equipment is in the Trauma Kit. This includes ensuring that all material is replaced before its expiry date.
2. Care and maintenance of the medical equipment.
3. To ensure all casualty evacuation plans are practiced at least once a month and upon changing worksites. These exercises will be recorded in the clearance task log.
4. To ensure that a route plan to the nearest hospital and phone contact is established prior to mine clearance. (This information is to be passed to the Operations deportment prior to start of operation.)
5. Care and maintenance of the medical equipment.
6. If there is a Mine Accident the Medic must complete the Mine Incident Radio Report and have the information by the radio in the ambulance
7. Ensure that all Mine Clearance Incident Report Forms are fully completed and passed to AREA Operations Room as soon as possible
8. Must be at immediate notice during mine clearance operations and situated in a safe position as directed by the Team Leader.
9. For General Accidents Complete Medical Accident Report Form and render First Aid as required.
10. Conduct first aid/medical training to the team’s personnel.
11. Conduct of any additional task assigned by medical officer.
12. He /She will establish a First Aids post before the operation starts and will close only after the operation has seized.
13. He will provide First Aids to an injured/ill demining staff from the First Aids emergency kit bag to stabilize the condition of the injured and evacuate it to the nearest medical facility i.e. FMU or a base hospital.
14. He will keep the First Aids bag updated according to the list of contents provided with the bag.
15. After returning to base camp, he will assist the FMU Paramedic/pharmacist as and when required.
16. Paramedic is responsible for the cleanliness of SMU (Site Medical Unit) and the upkeep of their medical equipment as per the list.
17. To ensure that his medical equipment is complete and serviceable all the time
18. Be completely ready to help any casualty in the operation site.
19. Check the ambulance and ensure that it is capable of casualty evacuation if required.
20. Maintain hygiene all the time at the task, ambulance, and base comp.
21. Assist team members in providing advice regarding self-hygiene.
22. Conduct any additional task assigned by the medical officer/team leader.
