The Shanti Volunteer Association (SVA) is a Japanese NGO established in 2003 in Afghanistan SVA provides educational and cultural support for children and implements emergency humanitarian assistance. SVA strives to deliver educational opportunities to children so they can continue learning under any circumstances.
Renovated and improved the 2 Public District Libraries' infrastructure in Kabul City and established a children’s section by providing necessary furniture, equipment, books, etc. for each library, including basic library training for librarians and related staff.
Through library basic training programs, library operational policies, library activity plans, and educational opportunities for out-of-school children, who have lost educational opportunities, and adults, learning programs are formulated.
Emergency food and non-food assistance was provided and delivered to earthquake-affected communities in Nurgal District, Kunar Province. The support included dignity kits for women, WASH supplies, essential household items, and winterization assistance such as blankets and carpets.
Daily, more than 243 children (boys and girls), 55 adult Students, and 113 out-of-school adolescent boys and girls used the library services and activities at 2 target public libraries.
A total of 980 most vulnerable earthquake affected households (6860 individuals including women and children) received the emergency food items and non-food items in different villages of Nurgal district.
