To support the Knowledge House’s mission of improving quality of life through empowering people with knowledge, Monitoring, Evaluation and Research unit operates with up-to-date and skilled human resources who have expertise in executing monitoring, evaluation, and research interventions within a framework of continuous improvement.

The MER team is responsible for producing high quality deliverables in an effective and efficient manner, and in strict adherence to the data protection policy and in line with other organisational Standard Operating Procedures.

The Local Researcher will the study data collection tools at the community level collecting data directly from respondents as identified by study supervisor or study sampling method. Local Researcher will have responsibilities prior to, during, and after data collection for adhering to the ethical requirements, study protocol and methodology and data quality. The Local Researcher will be responsible for the safety and protection of the data collected from respondents and maintaining confidentiality. The enumerator shall have his/her ID Card and the study approval with him/her at the time of data collection and in case of enquiry from the government authorities he/she shall directly and immediately inform the Study Coordinator.

1. Responsibilities:

1. Attend all the study training (including field tests)
2. Understand formatting of the questionnaire and how to carefully navigate through the questionnaire
3. Prepare visit plan with Study Coordinator to show the path to take while carrying out interviews (in conducting the household listing)
4. Participate in the selection of the respondents for the study in the community and travel around the community to identify the selected respondents
5. Find and visit the eligible respondents for study and identify eligible respondent (as identified by the study method) for interview
6. Interview respondents, accurately administer the study questionnaire and completely collecting all data according to instructions on the questionnaire
7. Review the questionnaires at the end of each interview and ensure that all questions are completed and correctly marked
8. Submit completed interview questionnaire to Study Coordinator and discuss developments daily.

Ensure data security and confidentiality of respondents at all the time during and after the data collection.

1. Qualifications:

• Minimum level of university certificate,
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and good understanding of culture, locally spoken languages and geography (in Khost)

2. Experience:

• Minimum of three years of experience in research and evaluation, experience of collecting data in Khost, experience with previous household surveys preferred
