Education

Job Summary

JOB PURPOSE:

The Civil Design Engineer will be responsible for the planning, analysis, and design of all civil infrastructure components of the township project. This includes internal roads, drainage systems, culverts, retaining walls, pavement structures, utility corridors, grading, and other related civil works.

The successful candidate will prepare engineering designs, calculations, technical drawings, BOQs, specifications, and design reports while coordinating closely with survey, geotechnical, and construction teams to ensure accurate and practical implementation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES:

•    Infrastructure Design
Design township road networks, intersections, and access roads.
Design stormwater drainage systems, side drains, culverts, and related hydraulic structures.
Design retaining walls and other supporting civil structures.
Prepare pavement design based on traffic and geotechnical investigations.
•    Engineering Analysis
Perform engineering calculations in accordance with international design standards.
Analyze topographic survey and geotechnical investigation reports.
Prepare grading and earthwork plans.
•    Drawings & Documentation
Prepare detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Develop BOQs, technical specifications, and design reports.
Review and revise drawings whenever required.
•    Coordination
Coordinate with Survey Engineers, Geotechnical Engineers, Site Engineers, and Project Managers.
Review survey data and ensure accurate implementation of design layouts.
Provide technical support during construction activities.
•    Quality Assurance
Ensure all designs comply with applicable engineering standards and project specifications.
Review contractor shop drawings and technical submittals.
Participate in design review meetings and provide engineering recommendations.
•    Site Support
Conduct site visits to verify design implementation.
Resolve technical design issues during construction.
Recommend design improvements where necessary.
•    Reporting
Prepare design progress reports.
Maintain proper engineering documentation and records.
Submit technical reports to project management.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Master's Degree is an advantage).

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 5 years of proven experience in civil infrastructure design. Experience in township, road, drainage, and utility infrastructure projects is highly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technical Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of road geometry, pavement design, and drainage engineering.
  • Experience in township infrastructure planning and design.
  • Knowledge of earthwork calculations and grading design.
  • Understanding of Afghan and international engineering standards.
  • Software Skills
  • AutoCAD
  • Civil 3D
  • Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, or similar engineering software is an advantage.

LANGUAGE:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of Pashto and Dari is preferred.
