Job Summary

JOB PURPOSE:

The Construction Engineer will be responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, consultants, contractors, and site teams to monitor construction progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and contractual requirements.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES:

  • Supervise and monitor daily construction activities to ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with project managers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth implementation of construction activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor work quality, identify technical issues, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with construction standards, safety regulations, and project quality requirements throughout all phases of construction.
  • Review construction drawings, technical documents, and material submittals before implementation.
  • Monitor project progress and prepare regular site progress reports for management.
  • Verify quantities of completed work and assist in the preparation of work progress measurements when required.
  • Support quality control activities by ensuring that construction materials and workmanship meet project specifications.
  • Assist in resolving technical and engineering issues that arise during construction.
  • Perform other construction-related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field from a recognized university is required.
  • A Master's Degree in a relevant discipline will be considered an advantage.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in construction supervision, site engineering, and project implementation.
  • Previous experience with construction companies, engineering consulting firms, or large development projects will be considered an asset.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

The successful candidate should have practical knowledge of:

  • AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
  • Reading and interpreting engineering and construction drawings
  • Construction methods and site supervision
  • Quantity verification and BOQ interpretation
  • Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Construction safety practices and HSE requirements
  • Preparation of technical and progress reports
