Job Summary

Specific Tasks / Activities – Polio Social Mobilizers:

Community Engagement & Demand Generation:

  • Engage families and caregivers at border points and returnee reception centers to raise awareness on the importance of polio and routine immunization.

  • Provide accurate and culturally appropriate health messages to encourage vaccine uptake.

Mobilization & Referral:

  • Mobilize children and caregivers for immediate vaccination at zero-point or border health teams.

  • Refer missed children to the nearest site-based vaccination team or fixed health facility.

Refusal Conversion:

  • Identify vaccine-refusing individuals and families and address concerns through interpersonal communication.

  • Document and report all refusals and outcomes to the supervising DCO/PCO.

Data Collection & Reporting:

  • Maintain daily records of interactions, refusals converted, and children vaccinated.

  • Share daily reports with the assigned supervisor in the agreed reporting format.

Coordination & Support:

  • Work closely with frontline workers (FLWs), operation volunteers, local influencers, and religious/community leaders to build trust and increase coverage.

  • Coordinate with border officials and health authorities for smooth daily operations.

Deliverable:

  • Daily list of children vaccinated through social mobilization/referral

  • List of refusals encountered, and number converted

  • Summary report of activities and observations at border points

  • Final monthly performance report

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma.

  • 2 years' experience in community mobilization. Experience in the Polio programme is given priority.

  • Fluent in Pashto and Dari

  •  Ability to travel to remote and far to access areas specially in the border areas (Zaranj district).
