Job Summary
YAAR is seeking a creative and experienced Multimedia & Communications Officer with strong skills in videography, photography, video editing, storytelling and social media content creation.
The selected candidate will be responsible for documenting YAAR's projects and activities through high quality photographs, videos, interviews, beneficiary success stories, short documentaries and social media content.
The position requires someone who understands how to turn project activities and beneficiary experiences into professional and engaging human interest stories that demonstrate the impact of YAAR's work.
The successful candidate should not only know how to operate a camera, but should also understand how to identify a good story, conduct an interview, plan video shots, record quality footage, edit the material and produce a complete final video suitable for donors, reports, websites and social media platforms.
YAAR will provide the necessary organizational equipment for the position.
Key Responsibilities
· Photograph and film YAAR project activities in Kabul and other provinces.
· Identify meaningful beneficiary success stories in coordination with project teams.
· Interview beneficiaries, project staff, community members and other relevant stakeholders.
· Develop professional beneficiary success story videos and human interest stories.
· Plan video shoots including locations, interviews, shots, lighting and audio.
· Record high quality video, photographs and audio.
· Edit raw footage into professional final videos.
· Produce short videos and reels suitable for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, X and other digital platforms.
· Produce longer project documentaries and success story videos when required.
· Add subtitles, captions, titles, logos, graphics, transitions and other visual elements.
· Prepare English, Dari and Pashto subtitles where required.
· Develop before and after documentation of project interventions.
· Produce photographs and videos for donor reports, project reports, proposals and organizational profiles.
· Cover project events, trainings, distributions, inaugurations, handovers, field visits and major project milestones.
· Develop creative ideas for promoting YAAR projects and achievements through social media.
· Prepare short captions and descriptions for social media posts.
· Ensure all communication materials follow YAAR and donor visibility requirements.
· Maintain an organized digital archive of photographs, videos and project communication materials.
· Properly manage and safeguard cameras, microphones, lighting, computers and other equipment provided by YAAR.
· Carry out other communications and multimedia related duties assigned by management.
Beneficiary Storytelling
A major part of this position will be developing project success stories. The candidate must be able to:
· Identify beneficiaries whose stories demonstrate meaningful project impact.
· Understand the beneficiary's situation before receiving project support.
· Conduct respectful and natural interviews.
· Capture appropriate supporting footage and photographs.
· Clearly explain what assistance was provided through the project.
· Show how the project changed or improved the beneficiary's situation.
· Create an engaging beginning, middle and conclusion for each story.
· Produce final stories suitable for sharing with donors, partners and the public.
