In 1992 HealthNet TPO was established by ‘Doctors without Borders’ to bridge the gap between emergency aid and structural development. The organization is now the result of a merger between HealthNet International (HNI) and the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO). HNI has knowledge and experience in reinforcing healthcare systems and prevention, diagnosis and treatment of transmissible diseases. TPO is an expert in the field of psychosocial and mental health care for survivors of war and natural disasters.  HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is managed by a team of qualified Afghans and supported by a team of experts at the HQ of the organization in Holland.

HealthNet TPO Afghanistan is providing Primary Health Care, Mental Health and psychosocial services, fighting malaria and supporting Mother & Child Health Care in terms of providing training for Community Midwifes and to conduct operation research. HealthNet TPO is currently implementing projects in almost 20 provinces of Afghanistan and the major program it implements are HER (Health Emergency Response) projects in three provinces, Nutrition, Mental Health and Psychosocial, Malaria Control program, Tuberculus....... through a community system strengthening approach.

HealthNet TPO has a zero tolerance toward sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse. HNITPO takes seriously all concerns and complaints about sexual exploitation and abuse and child abuse involving HNITPO employees and Related Personnel.

Job Summary

  • Conduct comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions.
  • Develop appropriate treatment and surgical plans for patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system.
  • Perform neurosurgical procedures within the scope of professional expertise and the hospital’s available facilities and resources.
  • Provide timely assessment and emergency management of patients with head injuries, intracranial bleeding, spinal injuries, and other acute neurosurgical conditions.
  • Review and interpret relevant diagnostic investigations, including CT scans, MRI, X-rays, and other neurological investigations.
  • Provide pre-operative assessment, surgical intervention, and post-operative follow-up and management of patients.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including diagnosis, treatment plans, surgical procedures, and patient progress.
  • Collaborate closely with General Surgery, Anesthesia, Emergency, ICU, Orthopedics, Radiology, Nursing, and other relevant departments for comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide appropriate referral and consultation for cases requiring services or interventions beyond the hospital’s capacity.
  • Counsel patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, potential risks, and post-operative care.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control, patient safety, clinical protocols, and professional medical standards.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, morbidity and mortality reviews, and other relevant hospital activities.
  • Provide clinical guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to Medical Officers, junior doctors, nurses, and other relevant healthcare staff when required.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and applicable hospital policies and procedures.
  • Perform other relevant professional duties assigned by the hospital management within the scope of the position.

Job Requirements

  • Graduation from Neurosurgery program and passed the comprehensive exam.
  • At least 2 years as Neurosurgeon
  • Good communication, report writing, problem solving.
  • Relevant Trainings are desirable
