Job Summary


The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of Tdh staff, visitors, facilities, vehicles, and property through regular monitoring and patrols.
Controls access to the compound, verifies visitors, prevents unauthorized entry, and reports suspicious activities, incidents, and security risks immediately.
Responds to emergencies, supports evacuation, checks safety and facility systems, and ensures proper shift handover and continuous security coverage.
Maintains professional conduct, confidentiality, alertness, and compliance with Tdh security procedures, duty rosters, and supervisor instructions.

Main responsibilities:

  • Monitor and patrol the assigned Tdh compound regularly during day and night shifts to ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors, facilities, and property.

  • Control and monitor all entry and exit points of the Tdh compound and prevent unauthorized access.

  • Check and verify visitor identification, register visitors in the visitor logbook, and issue visitor cards before allowing entry.

  • Ensure that no visitor enters the Tdh office without proper authorization from the person being visited or designated Tdh staff.

  • Do not allow suspicious packages, bags, or objects into the compound. Immediately report any suspicious item to the Security Supervisor/Line Manager and follow instructions.

  • Remain alert and maintain a visible security presence at the assigned post throughout the duty period.

  • Conduct patrols at least every 30 minutes and check gates, doors, windows, fences, security lights, and other access points.

  • Ensure doors and windows are properly secured after staff leave the office and report any damage or security weakness immediately.

  • Monitor the surrounding area and immediately report any suspicious person, activity, security incident, threat, or unusual event to the Security Supervisor/Line Manager.

  • Inspect the compound at the beginning of each shift and provide a proper handover to the incoming guard before ending the duty.

  • Respond promptly to security incidents, fire, medical emergencies, attempted unauthorized entry, and other emergencies and immediately inform the responsible Tdh focal point.

  • Support the safe evacuation of staff and visitors during emergencies when required.

  • Monitor security and emergency lighting and report any loss, damage, or malfunction.

  • Protect Tdh staff, visitors, office equipment, vehicles, documents, and other property from theft, damage, or unauthorized access.

  • Check identified safety risks, including gas cylinders, kitchen stoves, generator fuel, and electrical equipment, and report concerns immediately.

  • Monitor the generator and other essential facility systems and report any malfunction to the responsible Logistics Manager or designated person.

  • Assist authorized staff with loading and unloading incoming and outgoing materials when required, without compromising security duties.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the assigned security post and compound as required by the duty roster.

  • Follow the duty roster, security procedures, and instructions of the Security Supervisor/Line Manager at all times.

  • Work during day shifts, night shifts, weekends, public holidays, and religious holidays/days according to the specific duty roster prepared by the supervisor, ensuring continuous security coverage of the Tdh premises.

  • Report any absence, delay, or inability to report for duty to the supervisor as soon as possible.

  • Sleeping during duty hours is strictly prohibited. Guards must remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout the entire shift.

  • Guards must not leave their assigned post or the compound during duty hours without authorization and proper replacement.

  • Maintain professional, respectful, and polite behaviour toward Tdh staff, visitors, contractors, and other persons.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding Tdh staff, visitors, security arrangements, incidents, and other sensitive information.

  • Immediately report all security incidents, suspicious activities, damage, loss, or safety concerns through the established reporting line.

  • Perform other reasonable security-related duties assigned by the supervisor/line manager in accordance with Tdh policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Education :

• High school graduation certificate is mandatory.

Experience / Skills :

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with an international or national NGO, UN agency, or similar organization.

Languages:

Knowledge of Pashto and Dari is required; English language skills are considered an advantage.
