Job Description:
The ideal candidate would be able to:
Regular Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive medical assessments, diagnosis and treatment plans for female adult patients.
- Manage acute and chronic medical conditions, ensuring high standards of care are maintained as per the rules and regulations of the institute.
- Coordinate patient care with other medical departments and ensure timely referrals to specialists when necessary.
- Educate and inform patient/family of necessary treatment plan and any follow-up appointments.
- Ensure patient safety and the highest standards of medical ethics and professionalism.
- Address the unique health needs of female patients, including those related to reproductive health, chronic diseases and mental health.
- Assure the quality and continuity of care 24/7.
- Mentor and guide junior doctors, medical interns and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient care and department efficiency when necessary.
- Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Actively participate in departmental meetings and hospital-wide committees when necessary.
- Take part in educational activities, including teaching sessions, seminars and workshops for junior staff.
- Contribute to ongoing research in the field of internal medicine, promoting evidence-based practices.
- Assist in developing and delivering training programs aimed at improving internal medicine practices in Afghanistan.
- Uphold the highest ethical standards in patient care and ensure compliance with safeguarding practices, particularly for vulnerable populations.
- Ensure that patient confidentiality, dignity and respect are always maintained.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and ensure all documentation adheres to FMIC policies and national guidelines.
- Participate in departmental management tasks as directed by the Head of AIM.
- Contribute to the hospital’s strategic planning by providing expert opinions in Adult Internal Medicine.
- Engage in health promotion and disease prevention activities within the community.
- Advocate for policies and practices that enhance female healthcare services at FMIC and in the broader healthcare system.
- Any other tasks assigned by Head of Department.
Periodic Responsibilities:
- Conduct CMEs and Health Awareness Sessions for sharing knowledge and information.
- Participate in clinical forums and workshops.
- Participate in medical meetings.
