Job Description:

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervisory  

  • To overall supervise all staff in the social integration component. S/He should spend at least 50 % of his/her time in the field.
  • To oversee and guide the implementation of social integration daily activities in the project.
  • Conduct monitoring visits from SHGs activities.
  • To monitor, supervise, support, and advise the CBR-workers, and monitor distribution of Ability Magazine within the covered villages/area.

Technical

  • To assist the senior supervisor CBR and Disability Project Manager providing and developing various reports (monthly/quarterly/annual), work plan and budget in social integration component.
  • To ensure statistical records are kept updated and compiled for the social integration component
  • Develop SHGs training action plan on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • To assess and plan for the needed mobilization and awareness activities at the district and provincial level
  • To ensure quality of all aspects of the social integration activities.
  • To link the Disability project to various Community Development Councils (CDCs)
  • To promote knowledge and awareness of people about disability and encourage stakeholders outside Disability Project to give focus on Person with Disability.
  • Have presentations in various institutions regarding disability, rights of person with disabilities and providing equal opportunities for inclusion of Person with Disability.
  • Facilitate advocacy efforts of SHGs.
  • Support the SHGs in report writings and provide technical support in terms of reporting awareness and advocacy issues within their project.
  • To act as coordinator between NAC and SHGs and will be major contact person for SHG in NAC.
  • Write success story/ human interest story regarding SHGs

Financial

  • To assist the senior supervisor CBR and Disability Project Manager in the budget preparations, follow up revisions and to secure accountable practices according to financial regulations.
  • To check bills of purchased materials for social integration components
  • Regularly follow up the budget of Social Integration component

 

Training Responsibility

  • To facilitate appropriate training for relevant staff members.
  • To transfer his/her knowledge and experience to the relevant colleagues through job training and other forms of training.
  • To collect requests and suggestions of the section’s personnel regarding refresher training courses on different topics and submit them to the senior supervisor CBR and Disability Project Manager.
  • To provide mentorship and job support to DPOs and SHGs.

Inter organizational relation

  • Promote gender equality, non-discrimination with regard to ethnic, political and religious background
  • To participate actively in workshops, seminars & conference organized by the NAC management
  • Promotes good coordination with other NAC projects, all RMOs units and other units/departments at RMOs and KCO especially Disability MU with regard to project planning, budgeting and other related issues.
  • Promotes good coordination with other NAC projects Finance and Support units.

Relation with external agencies

  • Maintain good cooperative relations with the national and provincial authorities, UN agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders, Local councils and civil society
  • To participate actively in ensuring broad understanding and acceptance by local communities of the Disability projects and NAC in general
  • To actively ensure community participation in Disability Program projects

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To actively contribute to the successful development and good reputation of the NAC
  • To do any other duties assigned by the Senior CBR Supervisor.

What are our expectations?

  • will work closely with Disabled People Organizations (DPOs) and Self-Help (SHG) who are partners of NAC. He will be responsible for coordination, monitoring and organizational capacity building of DPOs and SHGs. S/He will also be the key contact person for matters related to DPOs and SHG supported by NAC.

Job Requirements:

Language requirements, if any

  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto, both written and spoken, is required. Proficiency in other local languages will be an advantage.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science, inclusive development or equivalent in the related field,

Work Experience:

  • 3-4 years of relevant experience within international NGOs or similar organizations.

Skills:

  • Computer skill at operator level, especially with MS Office packages.
  • Fluency in English and Dari and/or Pashto, both written and spoken
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team worker, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience of planning, reporting and budgeting
  • Ability and willingness to travel to the project sites within Afghanistan and adjust to NAC
