Job Description:
The Dean of Engineering:
- Lead, manage, and supervise academic, administrative, and teaching activities of the faculty.
- Prepare work plans, operational plans, and provide regular reports to the Academic Vice-Chancellor and the Institute's President.
- Coordinate among related departments.
- Support and enhance the academic capacity of faculty members and students.
- Oversee curriculum development and improve educational quality.
- Participate in official meetings of the institute and represent the faculty in relevant institutions.
- Perform other related duties as per the institute's regulations.
The Head of the Electrical Engineering Department :
To be a member of the University’s Academic Board and to work with the Vice-Chancellor and Chancellor in leading and managing the University as a whole.
To be responsible for the academic leadership of the faculty, including all aspects of teaching, learning, research and knowledge transfer.
To be responsible for developing and agreeing a budget for the faculty as part of the planning and resources allocation process and then managing within it.
To ensure that the faculty meets targets agreed as part of the planning and resources allocation process, for example, student recruitment and retention targets.
To assist Chancellor in deploying faculty staffing as required in order to achieve; maximum effectiveness.
To have overall responsibility for the academic quality and health of all classes based in the faculty.
To have lead responsibility for ensuring a high quality student experience for students in the faculty.
To have overall responsibility for quality and safety management in the faculty.
To be an active part of the internal communications network ensuring faculty staff are kept informed of and contribute to University and faculty developments.
To represent the Vice-Chancellor and Chancellor on the Campus and to the local community.
To have lead responsibility for identifying service levels required from contracted services on the Campus and monitoring of service delivery.
To have overall responsibility for day to day discipline and maintenance of the Faculty.
To undertake any other duties and responsibilities delegated by the seniors.
Teach 10 lectures per week.
Job Requirements:
Dean of Engineering faculty:
Qualification: A minimum of Master’s Degree candidates in related fields.
Experience: 3 to 4 years (as a HOD) in any national or international university.
Nationality: National or International (Afghan national will be preferred)
Language: Dari, Pashto but English will be an asset (Speaking, Writing and Comprehension)
Communication skills: Good communication skills in Dari, Pashto and English)
Computer skills: (MS Office, Email and Internet skills)
Competencies and personal characteristics:
Leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills.
Head of Electrical Engineering Department
- Education:
- Possession of a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Electrical and Electronics from a recognized national or international institution.
- Work Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in teaching or academic management in higher education or technical institutions.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to manage and lead an academic department.
- Familiarity with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and engineering curricula.
- Proficiency in developing academic plans, research initiatives, and quality enhancement strategies.
- Fluency in Dari, Pashto, and English languages.
- Proficiency in educational and administrative software such as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MATLAB, and other related programs
