About TLO:
The Liaison Office (TLO) founded in 2003 as an Afghan non-governmental organization (NGO) that emerged from a Swisspeace pilot project (supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung) with the aim of improving local governance, stability, and security through systematic and institutionalized engagement with customary structures, local communities, civil society groups, and government institutions. TLO is based in Kabul, with regional offices in Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Herat, Ghazni, Farah, Samangan, Balkh, Nangarhar, Maidan wardak and Baghlan and additional field offices across Afghanistan. TLO works to achieve its objectives through key program activities: research and analysis, dialogue facilitation for peacebuilding, access to justice and governance, humanitarian assistance, third party monitoring and evaluation, and environment & natural resources management.
Job Description:
- Design and deliver comprehensive training projects for community health workers (CHWs) on maternal, infant, and young child nutrition (MIYCN) and integrated management of neonatal and childhood illnesses (IMNCI).
- Facilitate capacity-building workshops focused on psychosocial support (PSS) and integrated community case management (ICCM).
- Train CHWs on conflict resolution, cultural sensitivity, and effective communication skills.
- Ensure the provision of necessary medical supplies and training materials for health and nutrition activities.
- Support the establishment of integrated Mobile Health & Nutrition Teams (IMHNTs) to reach remote communities.
- Conduct outreach for immunization and nutrition screening initiatives within targeted populations.
- Strengthen community health outreach by promoting effective linkages between health facilities and community members.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions and adjust projects as needed.
- Collaborate with local stakeholders to enhance the implementation of health and nutrition services.
- Develop and distribute informational, educational, and communication (IEC) materials for community awareness.
- Provide ongoing mentorship and support to trained CHWs in the field.
- Organize community awareness sessions, including Mother-to-Mother support groups, to promote health and nutrition practices.
- Facilitate coordination meetings and feedback sessions to assess community health needs and project impact.
- Document training outcomes and prepare reports for management and stakeholders on project progress.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field.
At least 3-5 years of experience in training community health workers (CHWs).
Strong knowledge of maternal and child health, IMNCI, and nutrition programs.
Experience in facilitating capacity-building workshops and mentorship programs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to conduct field visits and work in rural areas.
