About Afghanistan National Urban & Rural Development Organization:

ANURDO is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-sectarian organization whose primary purpose is to encourage the repatriation of refugees and internally displaced persons and the re-establishment of Afghan society and economy by engaging in infrastructure rehabilitation, sustainable development, and local community capacity-building activities. ANURDO is registered under registration number 4216 with the Ministry of Economy, Afghanistan Government.

The primary objective arising from this mission is to encourage repatriation by rehabilitating and constructing rural infrastructure as well as enhancing agricultural production and food availability in the target areas.

The complementary objective is to build capacity for locally directed community development by encouraging the establishment of social structures capable of identifying, evaluating, planning, and implementing solutions to perceived concerns.

Job Description (Community Mobilizer):

 

Job Summary

The Community Mobilizer role in engaging and mobilizing communities to actively participate in the WASH project implemented by ANURDO in Maidan Wardak province. The community mobilizer will work closely with technical staff to build relationships, facilitate community participation, and promote the integration program under WASH, the community mobilizer will collaborate with local stakeholders, community leaders, and ANURDO project team to ensure the project's successful implementation and achieve the desired outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Community Engagement and Mobilization.
    • Build strong relationships and rapport with community members, including women, girls, and community leaders, in the target Districts.
    • Conduct community assessments to understand their needs, challenges, and priorities related to the WASH components.
    • Organize and facilitate community meetings, focus group discussions, and awareness sessions to gather community input and promote participation.
    • Mobilize community members to actively engage in project activities, including Hygiene Training and Water Management Training.
    • Act as a liaison between the community and ANURDO technical team, conveying relevant information, concerns, and feedback.
  2. Awareness and Training Sessions.
    • Organize and coordinate Hygiene training sessions for community members (HHs Male & Female).
    • Assist in providing COVID-19 awareness during training sessions and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
    • Collect data and information from beneficiaries, documenting their progress, challenges, and success stories related to the project improvements.
    • Prepare and submit timely reports to the ANURDO project team, including activity reports, training/event reports, and success stories.
    • Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team to provide accurate and up-to-date information for project monitoring and reporting purposes.
    • Establish and maintain effective coordination with local authorities, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Engage with local women's organizations and civil society groups to promote collaboration.

Job Requirements:

Education;

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; relevant training or education in community development or related fields is preferred.

Work Experience;

  • Minimum 3 year experience in community mobilization, grassroots organizing, or working with national /or international NGOs

Qualifications;

  • With a strong commitment to community development and gender equality.
  • Familiarity with the cultural, social, and economic context of Afghanistan, particularly in the target provinces.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse community members, including women and girls.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings, conduct trainings, and mobilize communities towards collective action.
  • Proficiency in local languages (Pashto, Dari) is required; knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the target provinces for community engagement and project-related activities.
