About Help Germany:
“Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe” is a German non-governmental charity-organization duly registered with the courts of law in Germany and in several host countries, including Afghanistan. Help was founded in 1981 by concerned Members of Parliament of all parties represented in the German Parliament. We started providing humanitarian assistance for Afghan refugees in Pakistan and Iran and soon extended to development-oriented activities. We provide aid and development support regardless of race, creed or nationality. Priorities are set based on need and upon the request from partners and vulnerable communities to cooperate fairly and transparently.
Job Description:
The Project Manager ensures that the most appropriate and relevant methods are used for successful project implementation. He will work under the direct supervision of the program manager. Project manager is responsible for the overall managing, planning and overseeing project to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and within budget. He will plan and designate project resources, prepare budgets, monitor progress, and keep stakeholders informed the entire way.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the project with the stakeholders including with the governmental departments at provincial level.
- Prepare monthly action plans.
- Supervise and coordinate the project implementation.
- Project reporting as per the agreed reporting structure with the donor.
- Ensure that all activities implemented should match Help and Donor quality standards and that all contractual obligations to the donors are met.
- Following up with the requests referred to by the local District Officers.
- Listing the equipment/facilities needed.
- Taking care of security matters/measures for both staff and facilities of the projects in the field.
- Managing project risks, including the development of contingency plans.
- Liaison with program Manager to ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated.
- Contribute to all new initiatives, data collection, and gathering the relevant data and information.
- Work with project field staff and ensure they receive all essential support.
- Provide support in preparing training materials/manuals for the project beneficiaries.
- Adopting and applying appropriate technical and quality strategies and standards.
- Identifying and obtaining support and advise required for the management, planning and control of the project
- Managing project administration
- Conducting a project evaluation review to assess how well the project was managed.
- Work closely with MEAL unit to manage the project activities effectively and by the project outputs.
- Identify, apply, and disseminate best practices and lessons learned.
- Preparing the final report of the project.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture (Agronomy, Animal Science, Agri-Economics). Candidates with a master’s degree in the agriculture field will be given priority.
- Familiar with the context of livelihood emergency projects.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in project management with national and international NGOs.
- Having excellent oral and written communication skills in English, Dari and Pashto
- Excellent managerial, communication. interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Initiative and results-oriented mindset.
- Knowledge of preparing different types of reports.
- Strong independent work ethics.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-faced work environment.
- Willingness and ability to learn.

- The position is based in Badghis province with frequent travels to Bala Morghab and Qadis districts.
- The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive orientation to the role and operating environment.
