About Future Generations Afghanistan:
Future Generations (FG) is the collective name for an international network of non-governmental organizations including FG Country Programs in Asia and Africa, Future Generations University (FGU) and its alumni in 17 countries, academia, and individual’s experts. The original charitable organization, Future Generations, was established in 1992 for the purpose of learning from, and building upon the world’s most successful examples of community empowerment and social change. It is complemented by the Future Generations Graduate School (Future Generations University) in 2006 in the State of West Virginia with authorization to provide a Master's Degree in Applied Community Change focus on Conservation and Peace building. The Future Generations Afghanistan (FGA) established in May 2002 and obtained its registration certificate from Ministry of Economy, Government of Afghanistan in October 2005. Job Description:
The Site Engineer under the supervision and direction of project manager supervises the construction works progress at the site, controls the quality of construction material and the execution of the construction work., and write inspection and eyewitness report in project journal including the result of testing carried out in the Labs.
Job Requirements:
- Supervise the work of laborers and sub-contractors and guide them when needed.
- Monitor the contractor QA/QC program including testing materials and ensure that the quality of materials meets the project requirements.
- specifications and good work practice standards.
- Determine field changes, design engineering changes, and non-conformances.
- Review the contractor's work plan and make sure the schedule is followed.
- Work with contractor engineering and operating personnel to coordinate construction activities.
- Be able to stay in and travel at the project site and where it’s necessary in connection to project activities.
- Preparing reports on the progress of projects.
- Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met.
- Preparation of tender documents for procuring services and works related to infrastructures
- Prepare operations and maintenance program of the infrastructure projects
- Prepare/compile periodic progress reports in consultation with field coordinator as per the standard format and deliver to Supervisor for further review
- Managing projects technical issues and liaising with regulators and client contacts
- Assisting with environmental assessments and resource management projects.
- Promote smooth work relationship at regional level, counterpart staff and other relevant bodies and report to direct supervisor periodically.
- Carryout regular supervision at field level to ensure full compliance of technical, social, and environmental aspects during implementation
- Ensure the construction works comply with the technical specifications, drawings, and contract terms and conditions.
- Conduct daily field inspections monitor work in progress and ensure the work meets the requirements of the plans and
- Plan and recommend procedures to be implemented by the contractor to ensure construction operations are within engineering design and specifications requirements.
- Visit proposed project site to obtain necessary information for use in creating project specification. This include condition and location of project site, location of storage and staging areas, and character and scope of work
Qualification:
- Previous experience in supervision and construction sites and teamwork.
- Excellent interpersonal communications and coordination skills and proven ability to work constructively with a variety of stake holders to achieve common goals
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action to not delay program activities.
- Should have the ability to have frequent travels to all project’s targeted areas.
- Excellent knowledge of English and local languages, both spoken and written skills
- Computer skills such as Work Excel and AutoCAD required.
