Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic audit manager to oversee financial review and audit assignments for our clients’ projects and implementing partners. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to quality, integrity, and capacity building.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Project Management & Planning:

  • Lead the design, planning, and implementation of financial review and audit assignments for implementing partners (IPs).
  • Develop risk-based audit plans, sampling strategies, and timelines in line with client requirements and international standards.
  • Allocate tasks and supervise the audit team, ensuring alignment with project objectives and quality benchmarks.

Audit Execution & Quality Assurance:

  • Oversee on-site and remote audit activities, including transaction testing, reconciliation of financial statements, and verification of compliance with funding agreements.
  • Review working papers and audit evidence, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to International Standards on Auditing (ISA).
  • Address complex technical issues and escalate critical findings to clients as necessary.

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Lead kickoff and exit meetings with IPs and clients to clarify objectives, present findings, and discuss recommendations.
  • Coordinate with third-party validators and partners to align methodologies and facilitate a seamless audit process.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Draft and finalize comprehensive audit reports and management letters, including executive summaries, prioritized findings, and actionable recommendations.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports in compliance with client templates and requirements.
  • Archive all audit documentation and working papers in accordance with organizational and client policies.

Team Development:

  • Mentor and build the capacity of financial specialists and analysts, providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIA) is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of financial audit experience, including at least 2 years in a team leadership role for international organizations, donors, or public sector entities.
  • Proven track record in managing complex audits in challenging environments.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in IPSAS/IFRS.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities.

Language:

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; knowledge of local languages (e.g., Dari, Pashto) is an asset.
