Job Description:
Job Summary:
The Distributer is responsible for overseeing and documenting field activities for agriculture, livestock development and construction projects. This role ensures proper implementation of project interventions, monitors progress, collects field data, and provides regular reports. The Field Monitor works directly with farmers, livestock keepers, and community groups to verify that project activities align with technical guidelines and achieve intended outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Field Monitoring & Implementation Support
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor poultry, kitchen Gardening, orchard crop production, and agribusiness activities
- Verify that agricultural inputs (seeds, fertilizers, tools) and livestock services are properly distributed and utilized
- Monitor adherence to good agricultural practices
- Track progress of farmer training programs and demonstration plots
2. Data Collection & Reporting
- Collect accurate field data on crop yields, livestock, and beneficiary participation
- Document success stories, challenges, and lessons learned
- Prepare weekly and monthly monitoring reports with photos and GPS coordinates
- Maintain up-to-date records of beneficiary lists, input distributions, and training attendance
3. Community Engagement & Farmer Support
- Serve as primary field contact for farmers, pastoralists, and local cooperatives or association
- Conduct field-level trainings on sustainable farming techniques and livestock care
- Identify and report emerging issues affecting project implementation
- Facilitate connections between farmers and extension services, markets, or veterinary care
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all field activities follow project guidelines and donor requirements
- Monitor proper use of project resources and prevent misuse
- Report any irregularities or deviations from project plans
- Participate in project evaluations and audits
5. Coordination & Communication
- Liaise between field teams, project office, and partner organizations
- Attend coordination meetings with line department and NGOs
- Provide timely updates to supervisors on field developments
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Diploma/Degree in Agricultural, Agricultural Economics, Construction engineering, Animal Science, Rural Development, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years experience in field-based agricultural/ livestock and construction projects.
- Experience with farmer training, extension services, or community mobilization
- Familiarity with climate-smart agriculture and livestock management practices
Technical Skills:
- Ability to collect and manage field data (both paper and digital formats)
- Basic understanding of monitoring & evaluation (M&E) systems
- Proficiency with mobile data collection tools ( Kobo, etc.) preferred
Essential Attributes:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with rural communities
- Ability to ride a motorcycle (license preferred) for field mobility
- Comfortable working in remote areas with basic amenities
- Strong observation and problem-solving skills
- Fluency in local languages (specify if needed)
Work Environment:
- 95% field-based work with extensive travel to project sites
- Exposure to rural farm conditions and outdoor weather
- May require early starts and flexible hours to align with farming schedules
- Occasional work during weekends or holidays for critical project activities
Performance Metrics:
- Accuracy and timeliness of monitoring reports
- Number of field visits completed vs. planned
- Quality of farmer feedback and issue resolution
- Adherence to project timelines and implementation standards
