Job Description:
Job Summary
The Education Specialist will play a pivotal role in advancing the educational objectives of WDIO. The primary focus will be to support the design, implementation, and monitoring to ensure they are effective, inclusive, and aligned with the organization's goals and standards. Education Specialist is reportable to the Education Program Head.
Objectives
- To improve the quality and accessibility of education programs, particularly EiE, CBE, TLC, and ALC programs.
- To provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of education projects, ensuring alignment with donor requirements, organizational strategy, and national education policies.
- To develop and implement innovative educational strategies and methodologies.
- Contribute to the development and review of project strategies, detailed implementation plans, and monitoring frameworks for education projects to ensure relevance, quality, and sustainability.
- To ensure educational programs are equitable and meet the needs of diverse learners.
Duties& Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation:
The Education Specialist is accountable for carrying out the following key roles and responsibilities, but not limited to:
- Follow up on the implementation of the Detailed Implementation Plans (DIPs) for all components of the project.
- Assist in establishing appropriate systems/mechanisms to implement the CBE, ALC, EiE, and TLC projects in partnership with communities and Provincial/ district education authorities.
- Participate in Education forum meetings at the provincial or district level and maintain close coordination with implementing partners.
- Establish links among communities, hub schools, DED, and local stakeholders in order to maintain and strengthen good relationships for better implementation of the program.
- Hold community sensitization meetings with community leaders, religious leaders, education authorities, and parents/caregivers in target locations on the right to education.
- Participation in the external district-level education meetings and representing the program in a good manner.
- Work closely with communities SMCs and the District Education Department (DED)/ Provincial Education Department (PED) to improve the quality of learning and access to education for conflict-affected boys and girls.
- Organize monthly and bi-monthly meetings with SMCs, and DEDs and record through proper minutes.
- Providing technical assistance to the MEAL department in the process of project data collection and data management.
- Report project work progress information to the line Education Program Head regularly.
- Provide necessary administrative support in the facilitation of workshops and seminars for potential stakeholders and beneficiaries in the lesson-learned experience sharing and challenges.
- Generate quality project progress reports, quarterly reports, and annual reports, and or as per donor reporting schedule.
- Support provincial mangers/officers in planning, reporting, progress reviewing and program implementation.
- Keep records of relevant monthly and quarterly progress reports of the project.
- Update the filing system daily, weekly, and monthly basis with incoming and outgoing correspondence with DED, PED, and MOE.
- Design and develop educational programs, curricula, and teaching materials.
- Integrate innovative teaching methods and technologies into programs and provide direct technical support to field teams (project monitoring, field staff, and partner capacity building, training.
- Review and contribute to the preparation of high-quality narrative reports, ensuring timely submission to donors, education clusters, and relevant stakeholders.
- Works with education project teams and partners to identify technical strengths and weaknesses areas and develops plans to address gaps.
- Participate in relevant coordination meetings, such as the Education Cluster and Technical Working Groups, and represent the organization in education-related forums at national and sub-national levels.
- Contribute to organizational learning through documentation of best practices, lessons learned, and success stories from education programs.
Capacity Building:
- Develop the required training material for the training
- Review the existing training material for the capacity building of the project staff and teacher
- Develop the ToR of the education project review, evaluation, and research in coordination with relevant team’s members.
- Organize and conduct training workshops for educators and program staff.
- Provide ongoing technical support and mentorship to teaching staff.
- Develop resource materials and training manuals.
- Developing project concept notes, proposals, and strategic and programmatic documents.
- Provide specific technical support, analysis, and feedback to WDIO representatives in coordination forums.
- Support the senior management team (SMT) in the overall implementation of project components and related Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with government agencies, educational institutions, and other stakeholders.
- Represent the organization in education-related forums and networks.
- Foster partnerships to enhance program reach and impact.
Deliverables
- Comprehensive education program plans and curricula.
- Training materials and manuals.

- Regular progress reports and documentation.
- Recommendations for the education program improvements.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular reports on program activities, progress, and outcomes.
- Reviewing reports of all provincial managers/ officers
- Preparation of high-quality narrative reports, ensuring timely submission to donors, education clusters, and relevant stakeholders.
- Document best practices, lessons learned, and case studies.
- Ensure accurate and timely data collection and reporting.
- Any other task assigned by line management/SMT.
Job Requirements:
- Having at least a Bachelor’s degree in education, Educational Leadership, Social Science, Management or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in education program design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Fluent oral and written skills in English;
- Fluent in Pashto/Dari
- Strong knowledge of educational theories, methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with educational projects & program tools, technologies, or frameworks.
Skills:
- Microsoft Office - Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook for writing reports, analyzing data, creating presentations, email communications, etc.
- Web Conferencing - Skills using Zoom, Teams, Google Meet for delivering remote trainings and virtual meetings.
- Data Analysis - Familiarity with tools like SPSS, R, Python for analyzing student assessments, survey results, etc.
- Database Skills - Experience with database management platforms to organize educational content
- Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines
- Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under severe time pressures

- Ensure reports and other reports from concerned supervisors with qualitative and quantitative information.
- Organizational and time management skills are needed to ensure programs are completed by the scheduled time.
- Ability to travel all around the country.
- Ability to organize and conduct different seminars and workshops for teacher and staff development.
