LEPCO - Leprosy & Tuberculosis Control Organization

Established in 1984, the Leprosy and Tuberculosis Control Organization (LEPCO) has been dedicated to serving affected individuals in Afghanistan, particularly in central and northern provinces. Our operations are primarily based in Mazar-e Sharif, Maidan Wardak, Daikundi, and Ghazni, where we run five specialized clinics.

Job Description:

  1. To operate and maintain all laboratory equipment in the clinic, according to LEPCO’s necessities and regulations
  2. To operate and maintain the MoPH-supplied GeneXpert Machine within the clinic
  3. To organize the sputum collection and examine the sputum by GeneXpert
  4. To organize the sputum collection and examine the sputum of suspected TB patients referred by an authorized person (normally the Leprosy Technician / In-Charge of the Clinic)
  5. To fill in properly the lab registers (including the TB lab/ GeneXpert register) and lab forms
  6. To do all the other lab tests that are necessary
  7. To ensure the availability of enough reagents and other materials needed for sputum examination with the GeneXpert machine and other equipment; to report in time to the Leprosy Technician / In Charge of the Clinic and the Laboratory Supervisor the need for a new supply of reagents and / or other materials needed for sputum examination
  8. To ensure the cleanliness of the laboratory and its equipment
  9. To train other LEPCO staff in related fields
  10. To participate with the Provincial Quarterly Review meeting and other related meetings

To assist other staff when required and as directed by the Leprosy Technician / In-Charge of the

Job Requirements:

  1. Graduated from Technology institute and registered with MoPH as Lab Technician
  2. Written and verbal communication skills in Dari & Pashto; English skills would be an advantage
  3. Priority will be given to residents of Daykundi Province; if candidate is from outside Daykundi and willing to relocate there, LEPCO will not be able to cover relocation and housing
