Job Description:

Objectives of the Position

The Logistics Officer will oversee and coordinate all logistics activities in support of the project, ensuring that resources, equipment, and supplies are delivered efficiently and on time. The officer will play a key role in managing transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and compliance with all logistical and regulatory requirements.

Scope of the work:

The Logistics Officer will be responsible for managing all logistical aspects of the project, including the coordination of supply chains, procurement, transportation, and warehousing. This role involves ensuring timely and efficient delivery of materials and equipment, overseeing inventory management, and maintaining accurate documentation. The officer will collaborate with various stakeholders, including vendors, suppliers, and project teams, to ensure smooth operational workflows while adhering to project timelines, budget, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

The Logistic Officer will be responsible for:

  1. Develop and implement logistics plans and schedules to ensure the timely procurement and delivery of goods, services, and equipment.
  2. Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and transport companies to ensure the efficient delivery and handling of project materials.
  3. Maintain and update logistics records, including delivery schedules, inventory lists, and status reports.
  4. Support procurement activities related to logistics, including the identification of suppliers, negotiation of contracts, and monitoring supplier performance.
  5. Ensure that all required materials, equipment, and supplies are available in accordance with project timelines.
  6. Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures, including the proper documentation of deliveries.
  7. Oversee the storage and management of inventory and project materials, ensuring that items are safely stored and easily accessible.
  8. Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure accurate stock levels and prevent shortages or overstocking.
  9. Supervise warehouse staff and ensure the proper handling and documentation of inventory.
  10. Coordinate the transportation of goods to and from project sites, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery.
  11. Monitor transport schedules, resolve logistical issues, and manage any delays or changes in delivery plans.
  12. Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards.
  13. Prepare regular logistics reports to update the project manager on the status of inventory, deliveries, and logistical challenges.
  14. Maintain accurate records of all logistics-related documentation, including invoices, delivery notes, and purchase orders.
  15. Ensure that all logistics activities comply with relevant local laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  16. Promote safe handling of materials and equipment and ensure that logistics staff are trained on safety protocols.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years of experience in logistics management, supply chain operations, or a related field, preferably within a project setting.
    • Experience in managing transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and procurement.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Proficient in logistics software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Knowledge of local transportation and customs regulations is a plus.
