Job Description:
The Media and IT Intern will assist the IT and Media departments in content development, communication activities, and administrative tasks to strengthen AWEC’s visibility and advocacy efforts.
The incumbent will be provided with an opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in key operational areas and will assist the relevant department in day-to-day activities in the meantime. The intern will also enhance their professional skills and develop a deeper understanding of organizational operations.
The intern will be provided with work certificates for the subject period and will be encouraged for the upcoming/ future vacant positions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the maintenance of IT systems and networks to ensure optimal performance.
- Support the management and maintenance of office equipment, including printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals.
- Assist the IT team in managing and maintaining IT assets, including inventory tracking, documentation, and lifecycle management.
- Assist in the implementation and management of data backup and recovery processes to ensure data security and integrity.
- Assist in organizing and archiving older AWEC data in compliance with IT policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the IT team to document IT processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Assist in the installation and configuration of new software and hardware systems.
- Assist in drafting and editing newsletters and social media posts.
- Support the production of audio and video materials.
- Help organize media events and campaigns.
- Assist in monitoring media coverage and compiling reports.
- Support the management of AWEC’s website and social media platforms.
- Help with photography and documentation of events.
- Coordinate with other departments for communication needs.
- Maintain filing and archiving of media materials.
- Participate in training and capacity-building opportunities in media and communications.
- Maintain filing and archiving activities of media and IT teams.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the IT and Media departments in daily operational tasks.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (ongoing or freshly graduated) in Information Technology, Computer Applications, Journalism, Business Administration, Public Administration, computer science and /or a related field.
No Experience is required for this role. However, strong generic knowledge of the Media and IT will be a strong plus.
