About ACDO:
Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political and non-profit humanitarian organization founded in 2014 register with the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoIRA) under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk and underserved people throughout the country.
ACDO responds to the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scarce resources in a well, efficient, transparent and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.
ACDO has an active presence at least in nine provinces in five regions of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces as well with the aim to transform itself into a leading and developed organization that will deliver to and support the significant number of people who had been affected by the long protracted and sudden on-set emergencies in Afghanistan. Regardless of the hardest circumstances that existed in Afghanistan in the last few years, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in Badghis, Balkh, Bamyan, Baghlan, Daykundi, Farah, Ghor, Herat, Kabul, Kandahar, Kunduz, Laghman, Nangarhar, Paktia, Paktika, Samangan, and Takhar provinces.
Job Description:
Objectives
- To improve the quality and accessibility of education programs, particularly CBE and ALC programs.
- To Provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of education projects, ensuring alignment with donor requirements, organizational strategy, and national education policies.
- To develop and implement innovative educational strategies and methodologies.
- Contribute to the development and review of project strategies, detailed implementation plans, and monitoring frameworks for education projects to ensure relevance, quality, and sustainability.
- To ensure educational programs are inclusive, equitable, and meet the needs of diverse learners.
Main Duties and Responsibilities of Education District Community Mobilizer:
- Conduct surveys and assessments in the communities and provide feedback and suggestions for the strengthening and development of the CBE education program.
- Create positive relationships with SMCs, students' parents, Hub Schools, and other relevant stakeholders through regular meetings and discussions to identify and address education needs and issues.
- Lead community-based mobilization and sensitization meetings and introduce CBE project activities to project beneficiaries.
- Support project location and project beneficiaries targeting strategy and criteria.
- Create plans for establishing School Shuras with community members and elders to monitor and support the CBE activities in the community.
- Collaborate with the community and SMS to identify educational needs and develop a work plan, ensuring that community members support the education program and School Management Shura members.
- Regularly monitoring, data collection in entry in KOBO application CBE classes and giving daily, weekly and monthly reports to the district coordinator.
- Facilitate the establishment of CBSs/ALCs and ensure the registration and integration of students and teachers in the MoE formal system.
- Ensure transparency in classroom repair/maintenance and material distribution activities in the community and records.
- Conduct campaigns and training to raise awareness about gender, especially for the improvement of female education and their further participation in education.
- Conduct meetings, on-the-job training and training for other members of the provincial education team Teachers, and SMS members to develop their capacity in planning and implementing and supporting the CBE project activities.
- Support the child protection staff and community-based committees in case management under the child protection component of the project.
- Communities aware of project objectives, outputs, activities, MEAL systems and ACDO Child Protection Policies.
- Facilitate for the project activities information at all events such as training, workshops and awareness sessions.
- Provide support for teachers inside the CBE and EiE classes, monitoring of the classes, assessment of the class visibility, documentation, and student’s level of learning assessment and reporting it to the line manager/assigned person.
- Follow up on day-by-day project activities and guide teachers at the field level.
- Assist joint monitoring visits with the government officials (district relevant authorities) to the project sites as per the coordination of the district and provincial coordinator.
- Support the implementation of project baseline, mid-term, and final evaluation.
- Support and advocate school Shuras to fulfill their activities and guide them accordingly.
- Develop weekly project narrative reports and submit them to the Provincial Officer in a timely.
- Any other related task as assigned by the Provincial Officer and/or Senior Management Team (SMT).
Job Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related fields (preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in community mobilization or related work, preferably in education projects.
- Familiarity with CBE, ALC, and ALP structures and goals.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proficiency in local languages; knowledge of English is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively in remote and challenging environments.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with communities and stakeholders.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in Pashto /Dari, skills in English will also be an asset.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Good understanding of gender and inclusivity issues in education.
- Willingness to travel frequently to remote and underserved areas.
- Commitment to organizational principles of accountability and transparency.
Language skills:
- Fluent oral and written skills in Pashto and Dari, fluent in English is a plus point
