The Community and Enterprise Development Organization (CAEDO) is a non-governmental and not for profit organization committed to improving the social and economic well-being of disadvantaged communities in Afghanistan. CAEDO works across the sectors of health, agriculture, livelihoods, and financial inclusion in collaboration with local and international partners.
To support its growing operations, CAEDO is recruiting a motivated and detail-oriented Operations and Program Assistant who will provide cross-cutting support in operations, program implementation, procurement, finance, monitoring, and clerical tasks.
Job Description:
Purpose of the Position
The Operations and Program Assistant will support the overall operations of CAEDO by performing a mix of administrative, financial, logistical, and programmatic duties. This role is ideal for a junior professional looking to gain broad experience across multiple departments in a development organization.
Key Responsibilities
A. Program and Monitoring Support
- Assist program teams in planning, organizing, and implementing activities.
- Support the collection and entry of program data, beneficiary lists, and feedback.
- Participate in basic field monitoring visits and help document field activities.
- Draft simple reports, meeting notes, and activity updates.
- Help maintain accurate and up-to-date program files and documentation.
B. Procurement & Logistics
- Support procurement processes in compliance with CAEDO policies and donor guidelines.
- Collect quotations, prepare bid comparison sheets, and support purchase documentation.
- Maintain stock records, office supply inventories, and asset tracking.
- Assist in organizing logistics for trainings, workshops, and field travel.
C. Finance & Administration Support
- Help collect, organize, and review supporting documents for payments.
- Support petty cash management and routine expense tracking.
- Scan, label, and archive financial documents and receipts.
- Assist in preparing monthly finance folders and checking documentation completeness.
D. Clerical & Office Management
- Maintain orderly filing systems (digital and hard copy) for all departments.
- Handle basic correspondence, photocopying, printing, and scanning.
- Support daily operations of the office to ensure a clean and efficient working environment.
E. Other Duties
- Perform other administrative and operational duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications and Skills
The candidate should have the below qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or any other field.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in admin, operations, or NGO work.
- Basic understanding of procurement, finance, or M&E processes is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email.
- Good communication skills in Dari, Pashto, and English (oral and written).
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
