  • Introduction to RSDO

Razi Social Development Organization- RSDO is an Afghan national NGO founded in April 11, 2008 and registered with Ministry of Economy in Afghanistan. It was established in Herat city but then sat up sub-offices in Ghor, Badghis and Farah provinces by delivering the social development services to vulnerable and marginalized people in the remote communities.

  • RSDO’s Background

RSDO firstly initiated the primary activities in 2002 under the name of “Abu Hanifeh Orphan High School”, assisting orphan children who lost their parents and families during the long-lasting war in Afghanistan to learn and build their future. Later on, with the financial support of  Japan Embassy it has constructed a high school building for the orphan and expanded the activities of orphan with the support of HELP Germany as well. Throughout years of hard working, RSDO slowly developed and now has functioning offices in all west region provinces of Afghanistan with more than 150 staff operating to four provinces of west region.

RSDO’s mandate is delivering the humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable households in the west region provinces of Afghanistan through the financial support of UN and International Organizations/donors.

RSDO dedicated all efforts to contribute in none-violent, developed and prosperous Afghanistan where both men and women live and respect each other through running services in the sector of, education, livelihood, protection (child protection + women empowerment, emergency, WASH and health.

Job Description:

The Para-Social Worker (PSW) role is embedded in community development work and includes, for example, CP awareness-raising and prevention of violence, neglect and exploitation against children, in addition to house-to-housework with vulnerable families. Much of PSWs' work align with the social workers, but social workers are based in communities while PSWs work in their own villages. PSWs referred more serious cases to district and provincial social workers.

PSWs: will Strengthen and support the social welfare Workforce system in Afghanistan Through Following Responsibilities:

Duties & Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the District Social workers, the PSW will be responsible for the following:

  • Community awareness raising to change social attitudes on child protection issues.
  • Sensitising and educating parents on child rights and the associated laws to encourage reporting of child protection concerns.
  • Identifying children who are maltreated or who are living in high-risk circumstances.
  • Referring child protection and vulnerable cases to appropriate services.
  • Providing family mediation.
  • Promoting positive parenting practices.
  • Providing Psychological First Aid (PFA).
  • Activating Community Based Child Protection Action network (CBCPAN) with local health workers, teachers, community leaders and relevant stakeholders at the community level.
  • Supporting peer-based support/self-care with other PSW, including sharing of lessons, capacity building through case conferencing discussions (real or mock) and building of a community of practice

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in social science, law , Public Administration or any other related field.
  2. Must be fluent in English, Dari and Pashto
  3.  must have a professional knowledge of MS. Office, Excel and the Internet.
  4. At least two years’ experience in the relevant field.
  5. Solve problems and make decisions.
  6. Good communication skills.
  7. Team works highly required.
  8. Able to work under pressure and different circumstances.
