About AYSO:

Afghan Youth Services Organization (AYSO) is a National Afghan NGO registered in 2006 with the MoEc of Afghanistan with registration No:397.AYSO since came into being has developed, successfully implemented, and provided direct assistance services in different   sectors such as health, educational, Food Security,  Capacity building, GBV Prevention and Response, Peace, Justice Research, and Surveys human rights and awareness projects and programs with the technical and financial support of several UN Agencies such as UNDP,UNFPA, UNICEF, WFP, and WHO, AYSO has implemented projects with government ministries and departments as well as has been being implementing partner with AAH/USAID, FHI, BARC, AADA,HEWAD, and other National and International Organization

Job Description:

  • Review, and ensure sure that relevant aspects of the ESCP and ESHS risk management instruments are duly incorporated into the procurement documents.
  • Work with the project procurement staff to ensure that environmental and social aspects are incorporated as appropriate in contracts for goods and services and that suppliers and contractors are fully aware of their responsibilities in this regard.
  • Ensure that the necessary environmental authorizations and permits are obtained where needed.
  • Support with monitoring to ensure that the consultants and contractors comply with the environmental and social health and safety (ESHS) specifications of their respective contracts.
  • Provide contributions to the regular, semi-annual and annual progress reports on projects’ implementation as Required by the donor (UNICEF).
  • In collaboration with the head of monitoring and evaluation manager, and other team members, monitor and report on the implementation of the HER project.
  • Lead the organization and implementation of training to project workers on Environmental and Social Standards, stakeholder engagement, GRM, sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment (SEA/SH) and other topics of relevance for ESHS compliance.
  • Perform other duties in line with the scope of the project leading to compliance with environmental and social aspects and related instruments.
  • Support donor and regulatory audits by providing required ESHS documentation.
  • Train staff, contractors, and workers on ESHS standards and requirements.
  • Develop job aids, posters, and ESHS guidance materials tailored to the local context.
  • Support capacity building for local partners and subcontractors.
  • Identify potential risks during the project lifecycle and propose mitigation measures.
  • Participate in project design reviews to integrate ESHS considerations into planning and construction.
  • Monitor implementation of mitigation actions and update risk registers regularly

Job Requirements:

A minimum of four years of professional experience, encompassing the management of gender-based violence programs and waste grievance handling, along with strong skills in the Microsoft Office suite and report writing. Familiarity with Afghanistan's environmental and social laws and frameworks is crucial.
