Job Description:

General Duties

  • Work closely with the nutrition officer to identify and develop nutrition for health to ensure continued awareness of the nutrition guidelines adopted by the health facilities and IRC/MOPH.
  • On-the-job training for staff at the community-based nutrition program (CBNP)
  • Conduct regular visits to the communities and support the community volunteers for nutrition promotion.
  • Schedule regular site visits for monitoring and supervision to ensure the quality of services, accurate data collection, and tracking of community Nutrition activities.
  • Submit weekly updates to the nutrition officer

Specific Duties:

  • Establish mother-to-mother support groups at the project target locations, communities, and conduct training for them on Family MUAC and Mother MUAC.
  • Conduct cooking/ food demonstration sessions for mothers and caregivers at the community level.
  • Support the mothers and volunteers in screening children under five to monitor and ensure early detection of malnutrition cases.
  • Support the mothers and volunteers to appropriately refer children under five detected as malnourished to the nearest health facilities.
  • Prepare and submit the nutrition reports for community activities and inpatient referrals as guided by the nutrition officer.
  • Any other job-relevant duties assigned by the line manager

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Nurse, community health, with experience in health promotion and conducting pieces of training sessions
  • 1 to 2 years’ Experience in community mobilization and coordination to increase community participation.
  • Self-motivated, possessing persuasion skills, ability to maintain relationships, and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Enthusiasm to travel to locations within a region, and to other regions for training sessions.
  • Communication and reporting skills
  • Fluency in Pashto, Dari and English
  • Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and Internet) an advantage
  • Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background
