Job Description:
- Contribute to the coordination of the shelter team by assisting in the provision of guidance and supporting the implementation, monitoring, and documentation of project activities, including action plans, contracts, financial expenditures, and project documentation.
- Support the application of the shelter strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines, and minimum standards, by assisting in quality control and the monitoring of shelter-related activities.
- Assist in the preparation of shelter response components, such as layouts for short-term rental support and transitional shelters using local practices and vernacular architecture while taking into account gender and vulnerabilities considerations.
- Participate in field missions to monitor shelter activities and provide technical support in coordination with the shelter team.
- Support the review data collection, mapping and analysis of shelter data assessment and implementation and ensure implementation does not conflict with natural hazards and risks in the implementation area
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports, or others as required, to support project tracking and documentation.
- Support coordination with stakeholders such as the shelter cluster, communities, partners and relevant government departments to facilitate the implementation of shelter programming.
- Contribute to the preparation and periodic review of workplans for shelter activities in the assigned communities, in consultation with the shelter team, to support timely implementation.
- Assist in coordinating joint activities among Shelter, WASH and Infrastructure teams to support the implementation of area-based approaches at the field level.
- Contribute to the monitoring of shelter construction and repair activities through regular site visits and spot checks and assist beneficiaries with basic technical support during implementation.
- Assist in organizing post-distribution monitoring activities in coordination with M&E team, contribute to the review of findings, and provide inputs for adjustments to shelter programme activities accordingly.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in architecture or civil engineering from an accredited academic institution with four years of working experience.

Experience
- Experience in supporting the implementation of construction activities, particularly in community-based projects in challenging environments preferably with UN, International NGOs, and National NGOs.
- Working experience in supervising shelter project implementation.
- Experience with field level coordination with national/international organizations.
- Experience supervising personnel.
- Exposure to in humanitarian or recovery context.
- Familiarity with shelter-related guidelines, standards, and indicators.
- Experience in working with IDPs and returnees.
- Previous experience of working in complex contexts.
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team and in the inter-agency context with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
- Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity.
SKILLS
- Familiarity with cash-based interventions and market-based programs.
- Ability preparing cost estimations, bill of quantities, and conduct market surveys.
- Ability to contribute to the preparation of project updates and status reports.
- Ability to use Ms Office, and AutoCAD.
- GIS analysis and the ability to use GIS software is an asset
Languages
- For all Applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
- Working knowledge of Pashto or Dari is required.
- Fluency in all national language(s) are highly advantages.
