Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to manage multiple operations of the tax practice and to deliver quality tax services, that will increase company’s reputation.
The Tax Manager will oversee and manage the Group's tax strategy, compliance, and planning for all its entities, which primarily include real estate and rental income businesses. The role involves ensuring full compliance with Afghanistan’s tax laws, minimizing tax risks, and maximizing tax efficiency across the group.
Tax Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns (BRT, Income Tax, Withholding Tax, Property Tax, etc.) for all group entities.
- Prepare and submit supporting documentation for tax filings to the Ministry of Finance or other regulatory bodies.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and evaluate the impact on the group’s operations.
- Analyze tax implications of transactions, leasing contracts, property sales/purchases, and inter-company charges.
- Collaborate with finance and legal teams to structure deals in a tax-efficient manner.
- Lead the preparation for tax audits and manage tax inspection processes.
- Respond to inquiries or assessments from the tax authorities.
- Represent the group during tax audits, hearings, or dispute resolution.
- Oversee the proper deduction and payment of withholding tax on service providers and contractors.
- Ensure vendors are registered and comply with local tax requirements.
- Maintain WHT certificates and communicate with vendors regarding tax matters.
- Design, implement, and monitor internal controls related to tax accounting and compliance.
- Maintain proper documentation for all tax-related transactions and filings.
- Conduct periodic reviews of tax records and procedures.
- Supervise and mentor tax officers or assistants in the group.
- Provide training and updates to finance staff on tax compliance and best practices.
- Act as the main point of contact with tax consultants, auditors, and government officials.
- Communicate effectively with senior management regarding tax exposure, risks, and savings opportunities.
Job Requirements:
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of Afghanistan’s tax laws, especially those related to real estate and rental income.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- High integrity and confidentiality.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/tax software.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience:
- BBA in Finance/ ACCA/CA and MBA in finance will be preferred.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Taxation.
- ACCA/CPA/CMA (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant tax experience, preferably in a group of companies or real estate sector.
- Experience dealing with Afghanistan Revenue Department (ARD) is a strong advantage.
