Job Description:
The Proposal writer/Business Development Manager is responsible for developing proposals through assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation; writing, revising, and editing drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials
Main Responsibilities:
Specific tasks to be completed under this SOW are as follows:
- Oversee writing the proposals, grant applications to United Nation (UN), International NGOs and Governmental agencies.
- Review RFPs and related documents furnished by the procuring agency; analyzes to understand and capture specific operational, administrative, and proposal requirements.
- Develop operational, administrative, and technical knowledge to be applied to content development.
- Predict emerging client needs and develops innovative solutions in response.
- Arrange and attend business meetings with prospective clients.
- Develop content for multiple proposals simultaneously as necessary.
- Develop, review and edit Request for Proposal responses, presentations and programs for new business development pursuits.
- Develop and prepare proposals that respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Coordinate proposal development activities from RFP release to proposal delivery; including drafting proposals for new and existing clients by client-established deadlines.
- Develop good working relationships with people in the proposal writing department and other departments.
- Negotiate contracts, agreements and provisions, administering private and government funds and contracts, tracking proposals and performance databases.
- Coordinate proposal timelines with team members to meet submission deadlines while ensuring thorough review processes.
- Conduct reviews of unsuccessful proposals to identify improvements for future submissions.
Job Requirements:
- Minimal requirements include a bachelor’s degree in business communications, technical communication, journalism and other related fields are desired. Advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years professional experience in proposal writing, content development and project design.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to multi-task and develop project outcomes based on business objectives.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
- Strong analytical skills. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to work extended hours as necessary
- Should have previous writing and editing experience.
- Must have experience of working with projects of International NGOs, UN agencies, USAID, and other relevant agencies.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to maintain working files and revisions of documents.
- Excellent research skills and the ability to write persuasively and articulately are essential.
- Should have the ability to create strategies and present proposals.
