Job Description:
- Conduct technical assessments, surveys, and feasibility studies for water and sanitation infrastructure (e.g., boreholes, piped systems, latrines, handwashing stations).
- Prepare detailed technical drawings, bills of quantities (BoQs), cost estimates, and work plans.
- Develop engineering designs and ensure compliance with national regulations and international standards (e.g., Sphere, WHO).
- Oversee the day-to-day construction of WASH facilities, ensuring quality control and adherence to technical specifications.
- Supervise contractors, site supervisors, skilled and unskilled laborers to ensure efficient and safe work practices.
- Coordinate timely delivery of construction materials and manage site-level logistics.
- Monitor progress against implementation plans and report any delays or technical challenges.
- Prepare weekly/monthly site reports, including technical updates, photos, and material consumption logs.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all WASH engineering activities and site records.
- Work closely with local communities to ensure participation and ownership of WASH infrastructure.
- Provide technical advice and training to WASH Committees and community members on maintenance and operation of water and sanitation systems.
- Coordinate with local authorities and relevant partners to ensure project alignment with local needs and standards.
- Ensure health and safety measures are in place and followed on all construction sites.
- Perform regular site visits to assess work quality and provide technical guidance to resolve any issues.
- Supervise the effective implementation of all test and inspection schedules, ensure adherence to all procedures, and coordinate with various teams to perform quality audits on processes.
- Monitor an efficient system, record all project activities, and analyze all processes to ensure all work meets quality requirements.
- Develop a method statement for the activity, including risk assessment, job safety environmental analysis, and Inspection
- Test Plan and Checklist based on project specifications.
- Liaise with the Technical/site Engineers relevant stockholders and strengthen the coordination and communication for smooth implementation of projects
- Inspect materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations
- Prepare construction implementation quality control report for donor and ACDO main office.
- Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the best contracts.
- Ensure the Project Manager and SMT that, the project is implementing based on approved drawings and specifications.
- Gather data, compiling reports and delivering presentations to relevant stakeholders.
- Complete quality assurance and providing feedback to the team.
- Perform regular tests on materials and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Any other task assigning by the project manager and SMT.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or related field with minimum of five (6) years’ Experience in WASH Related projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of international WASH standards and national construction codes.
- Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience in working with government at national and sub-national levels, UN organizations, or any international development or aid agencies.
- Experience as a WASH Engineer in WASH infrastructure implementation projects, preferably in humanitarian or rural development settings is required.
- Knowledge of Engineering Software such as AUTO CAD, Water Gem, Primavera P6.
