Job Description:

Summary

The IT Officer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring smooth operation of computer systems, networks, and software applications. This role involves troubleshooting technical issues, implementing IT policies, and providing technical support to staff.

Key Responsibilities

1. IT Infrastructure Management

Install, configure, and maintain hardware (computers, servers, printers, routers, switches).

Monitor and manage network performance, security, and backups.

Ensure the smooth operation of IT systems, including email, databases, and cloud services.

2. Technical Support & Troubleshooting

Provide first and second-level IT support to employees.

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.

Assist in setting up workstations, user accounts, and access permissions.

3. System & Network Security

Implement cybersecurity measures (firewalls, antivirus, encryption).

Conduct regular system updates and security patches.

Monitor for security breaches and respond to incidents.

4. Software & Application Management

Install and update licensed software applications.

Assist in deploying enterprise software (ERP, CRM, HRMS).

Train staff on software usage when necessary.

5. Data Management & Backup

Ensure regular data backups and disaster recovery plans.

Manage cloud storage and on-premise servers.

Maintain data integrity and confidentiality.

6. IT Policies & Compliance

Enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices.

Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.).

Document IT processes and maintain system logs.

7. Vendor & Procurement Coordination

Liaise with IT vendors for hardware/software procurement.

Evaluate and recommend IT solutions to improve efficiency.

Manage IT inventory and licensing.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware/software issues.
  • Knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience with database management (SQL, MySQL).

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Time management and multitasking abilities.

Work Environment & Conditions:

Office-based with occasional remote support.

  • May require after-hours support for emergencies.
  • Occasional travel for system installations or vendor meetings.
