Position Summary

The Greenhouse Farming Trainer / Community Mobilizer will play a key role in building the capacity of smallholder farmers and community members in greenhouse farming techniques while mobilizing local communities, IDP and refugee returnee to actively participate in sustainable farming practices. The Greenhouse Farming Trainer / Community Mobilizer collaborate closely with the project team, beneficiaries, and market to produce high value vegetable, fruit and flowers and create value to enhance livelihood situation of beneficiaries by developing new vegetables, fruit and flower production trough providing essential tools and market access.  This position requires a high level of knowledge and practical experience in greenhouse farming to have time sensitive agriculture products and adding value for those crops.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

  • Coordination with different stakeholders.
  • Holding awareness session to inform the prospective opportunity to the beneficiaries.
  • Beneficiary selection by Kobo and face to face interview.
  • Evolving training material and providing greenhouse farming skills training.
  • Providing technical information for preparing greenhouse raw materials and toolkit for the beneficiaries.
  • Train farmers, youth, and women’s groups on modern greenhouse farming practices (e.g., drip irrigation, soil management, pest control, nursery, organic fertilizers).
  • Provide technical support on the construction, maintenance, and operation of greenhouse structure.
  • Monitoring and mentoring of greenhouse farming activities.
  • Support the establishment of capacity building for a cooperative for greenhouse BNFs.
  • Conduct market research to understand consumer preferences and high value vegetables in greenhouse farming.
  • Conduct agriculture value chain training for beneficiaries.
  • Provide and support market linkage.
  • Provide field visit to the greenhouse beneficiaries.
  • Document success stories, challenges, and lessons learned for reporting and knowledge sharing.
