War Child Canada’s flagship Afghanistan program advances social impact in the lives of vulnerable children, women and their families through its Justice, Education and Opportunity programs with child protection and gender across all its programs. The Afghanistan Country Program is currently undergoing an exciting expansion with newly secured long-term funding for programs in eight provinces Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Balkh, Kunduz, Takhar, Logar and Badakhshan, and will expand its program to other new provinces.

Job Description:

Working under the supervision of the MYC Coordinator and in collaboration with the English Language Trainer and other MYC staffs, Computer trainer will train adolescents and youths in MYC and youths in MYC on computer programs such as MS Office, internet use, installation of software etc.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review, refine and develop training materials for computer and basic English language courses.
  • Assess the youth’s capacity related to computer programs and as well as basic English Language.
  • Prepare a lesson plan based on the assessment findings.
  • Organize computer training as well as basic English Language courses to adolescents and youths selected.
  • Assess the trainees on a regular basis and provide feedback to trainees for improvement.
  • Check computer hardware to ensure functionality and update computer related software.
  • Support technical troubleshooting and support as needed.
  • Assess the trainees on a regular basis and provide feedback to trainees for improvement.
  • Share the assessment findings with MYC coordinator and take action, if necessary for the improvement of adolescent and youth learning
  • Support the adolescent and youth in their learning
  • Demonstrate key competencies including initiative, teamwork, cooperation, preparedness, professionalism, reliability, and willingness to improve continuously.
  • Data collection and preparing monthly reports of the health education provided to the adolescents and youth.
  • Any other tasks assigned by her supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Academic Background and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in relevant disciplines (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, English Literature).
  • Additional qualification or certification in Diploma in English Language.
  • In-depth understanding of diverse English Language programs.
  • Experience in working with women and girls and protection services in the field.

Skills/ Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience in computer and as well as English Language program.
  • Capacity to work with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
  • Excellent communication skills in local languages and English.
  • Should be familiar with the area’s cultural traditions.
  • Good Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good reporting writing skills.
  • Culturally sensitive and keep confidentiality.
