Job Description:

Job Summary:

As the main aim of AFGA humanitarian response health facilities are improvement of RMNCAH services in hard-to-reach areas of the country, midwife is the most important part of the health services. Under the overall supervision of the MHT doctor, the MHT midwife will be responsible for providing quality RMNCAH services in MHT/ Fixed Center. She will be contributing to health services provision in the community-based health facility with more focus on reproductive health. As per the project donor (IPPF) and AFGA strategic plan, the MHT midwife will be contributing to health services access improvement through close engagement with the targeted community through health shura members, family health action group (FHAG), and CHWs.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • To provide skilled birth attendant services to the mothers who attend the health facility during their work time.
  • Provide at least four ANC services for each pregnant woman during the whole period of pregnancy according to the MoPH guidelines.
  • Teach danger signs of pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum to each mother during the pregnancy and postpartum phases.
  • Provide advice to pregnant women and mothers-in-law about the delivery plan and giving birth at a health facility.
  • Provide Postnatal Care (PNC) services to the mother and newborn at least four times after delivery.
  • Advise mothers on breastfeeding and the importance of colostrum.
  • Advise mothers on newborns and SBA women about vaccination
  • Provide counselling on personal hygiene for the mother and the newborn, and advise mothers on their nutrition.
  • Provide counselling on modern contraceptive methods.
  • Provision of modern contraceptive health items available at the health facility.    
  • Perform other tasks within the area of expertise, as requested by the supervisor.                  

Job Requirements:

  • Graduated from a midwifery institute and completed of MoPH exam.
  • At least two years of work experience in the related field.
  • Technical skills to provide effective, safe family motherhood services.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Dari and Pashtu is a requirement.
  • Culturally flexible and respect a multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent skills of problem-solving and decision-making making 
  • Strong communication skills
